I don't know. I have my hopes and wishes...but I truly don't know.

Maybe that is it. You die and then....nothing.

I saw some odd theory on I believe National Geographic Channel where they were talking about the energy or maybe potential energy left over in the body after you die and how the amount of energy in the Universe is constant and never changes regardless of the near infinite amount of changes the Universe undergoes. Essentially something to the effect of the energy that is you rejoins that of the rest of the universe as a whole. I tried to add that "theory" in some way to this poll though I'm not sure I got it right as I couldn't find exactly what I remember seeing via google. It was basically a scientific theory not of life after death per se, but that we are basically all part of something larger that being the universe itself and even thru death that connection still persists thru energy. I'm probably not doing the theory justice but seemed kinda cool and maybe a little comforting when I saw it on TV.

You go to the morgue where they may or may not perform an autopsy.

Then, they send you to a funeral home where your body is prepared for burial or cremation - your choice.

You can also be a donor in which case your organs are removed for transplant - if suitable.

Or you can donate your body to science.

For the atheist he/she will shaking his/her head and will continue to say, "I don't believe it" as the flames flicker on from medium to high
[/b]

Which, if true, indicates the evil of the deity involved - infinite punishment for finite transgression . . .

Hmm I think I should of been a little more specific. I didn't mean what happens to your body literally after you die. I meant more of what happens to "you" the essence that is you whether you believe that is a soul or energy or simply memories stored in your brain is irrelevant. What do you believe happens to your sentience?

That's it.  "You" are snuffed out.

WHich is why the one life we get is all that more important.

Honestly, I'd love there to be an afterlife where everything is a hippy paradise but, wishing it doesn't make it so.

So your vote would fall under Nothing you cease to exist & you won't even know it because your sentience will be gone then?

BTW this poll idea came to me after watching Religulous

Which many might see as a Athiest film but I found it to be more anti-religion than actually Athiest because ultimately the message was "What happens after death? I don't know. And neither does anyone else"

Good movie for anyone that has an open mind and isn't easily offended by people that believe differently than yourself. Plus it was funny.

My belief is that when the brain dies, whatever you consider essentially you dies with it.   Your body returns to it's chemical components.    Our only chance to live beyond death is through the memory and love of those we leave behind, the artistic and personal accomplishments we leave behind us, and, if you have kids, passing on your genetic material to your offspring.   That's it.

I'll probably get a copy when I get back to Melbourne.  There's bound to be someone at work with it.

You're probably too bitter. You need some salt.
