I didn't realize how many toys had come out based on TOS. In the past, I would have been tempted to buy the TOS phaser, communicator and Tricorder, but I refuse to reward this new direction ST is taking. But it doesn't matter, they will get plenty of money from others.
You are aware that the TOS phaser, tricorder and communicator have been out for quite some time and were not produced to support TREK XI.
Actually, I already have the ones that came out back in the 90s. After spending thousands of dollars in the past, I refuse to support the franchise financially in the future. They are not getting one more penny out of me. It's my form of protest, as futile as it might turn out to be.
You should stand outside Paramount with a torch and a pitchfork too. Take some pictures of yourself and put them up on this board.

That will fix their wagons...and they maybe you'll get the "Star Trek" you personally want!

Not worth the gas money. I said my protest is futile, the money god has spoken. My trek is dead.
I'm willing to bet your Trek died in 1991. You only just realized it in the last year.
Is that the year DS9 started? I don't remember. If it was, then, no, Star Trek was still blossoming. DS9 was my personal favorite. After that, ST went downhill IMHO.

Star Trek VI came out in 1991. DS9 premiered in 1993.

We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again. -Captain Jean Luc Picard

It didn't bother me that was the last movie with the TOS actors b/c I am not a big TOS fan. Kirk's death in Generations didn't bother me b/c I am not a Shatner fan.

I'm glad Star Trek is back! It never really left as it has always been in my every thought and heart since I was 5 years old and watched it premier back in 1966. My first memories are of that, and of the launch of one of the Gemini missions. I did find some of the incongruities a little irking, such as what happens to Amanda, etc. I accept those though as it is a new take on things and one has to allow for creative license. I do hope though that they don't diverge too much more. For instance, Kirk's first CO after leaving the Academy was Capt. Garrovick. It was the ship Kirk was on when they did battle with the Vampire creature, later to be met again by Kirk with the Enterprise in TOS episode "Obsession". Kirk told the son of his former CO, Security Chief Garrovick on his ship, that there were several "tall stories" he had to tell him about his dad. Would be nice to see that start to come thru in the next movie.

Forget about it, different reality.

They’ve given away their humanity with this genetic manipulation… Many of the qualities that they breed out, the uncertainty, the self-discovery, the unknown, these are many of the qualities that make life worth living… well, at least to me. I wouldn’t want to live my life knowing that my future was written, that my boundaries had been already set. Would you? -Jean-Luc Picard
