I don't see how anyone can vote yes, although I am sure they will, because even if a person thinks that Star Trek is the worst movie ever made, they still have all the old shows to watch. And if this movie turns them off from liking the old shows then they have bigger problems.

People don't like change sometimes so they may vote no just because of that.  Change is good especially when you are talking about underwear.

This new film is changing peoples negative opinions about Star Trek, the people I knew who didn't like Trek had been pointing to the last new Trek show "Enterprise" as a reason why they didn't like Star Trek, now they have become interested in it all thanks to the new film.  The new film has done some much needed CPR to the Star Trek franchise as well as physical therapy followed by training for the Olympics!  I think we will see some gold medal winning Star Trek soon in XII, XIII, and whatever CBS does with a new televised version.

We should all celebrate the fact that Star Trek is back! :logical:  :honorable:

I'm tempted to vote yes. After seeing Alien 3, I couldn't watch Aliens for a long time. Knowing that they were all going to die, kinda ruined it for me. The new ST movie did something similar. After seeing the movie, and hating it, but seeing how much money it made, I fear that this is all Star Trek will ever be anymore, or it will come to an end after the 3rd movie.

That is a bit of all or nothing thinking. Even if they make two more movies in this style it doesn't mean that someday someone won't come along and make a different style Trek movie.

It hasn't ruined Star Trek for me, because I don't see at as being Star Trek, alternate universe or not. Good for those that do. But it has ruined movies in general for me. I absolutely hated the movie Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. The book was fantastic, but the movie was choppy & and it seemed like everyone was just running from scene to scene. Yet, when I compare it to Abrams' movie - I don't think it's so bad - a voice in my head says, "...at least it's not that Abrams' junk". And Abrams' movie for the first time ever made me prefer Star Wars - eps 1, 2, & 3 to something that had the Star Trek name on it. I never thought that would happen.

Trek is not back.
The movie that was released in May was a generic action flick with the Trek label slapped on it.
