...it seems that I misspoke...
As of today, 4 August 2009, it appears that Sy-Fy Channel has pulled ENT off the air.
According to my cable company's on-air viewing guide, ENT is not on at 4 p.m. EDT.
According to Sy-Fy's Schedulebot, it is on at 4 p.m.
If there's anyone on the East Coast who gets the Sy-Fy Channel, could you please check and PM me? Then I can either delete my posts or revise my threads, or whatever.
...silly fangrrl, me... I was at the computer, working on an ENT fic...

In my opinion, as long at the Star Trek's ownership stays with CBS, you wont see any new Star Trek on TV for a very very long time to come.

Yep, saw that today... Rather interesting to see what a Vulcan temple was going to be like having humans, Vulcans, and Andorians all in the same place turning a sacred place into ruins like that. Whoa...

| Quote (Lucifer_ @ July 10 2009, 4:29 pm) | At least they're airing SOME Star Trek...there was a point in time where there was NO Star Trek on Sci-Fi at all. Instead we were subjected to countless numbers of shitty B-movies, Crossing Over with John Edwards, Ghost Hunters, Sightings, Scare Tactics, and other pseudo-reality programs.
My prediction will be that SyFy, in its attempts to lose its "geeky" image, will spawn a competitor to start up their own sci-fi based network. SyFy will become to science fiction what MTV is to music today. You heard it here first. |
Unfortunately you are likely correct in your prediction. They just started Warehouse 13 and brought back Eureka, and starting a new Stargate this fall. But most nights it is either really bad B movies (many which are an insult to the term B movie) or those idiotic reality type shows or wrestling (blahh). They seem to be going more and more away from what you can call SCIFI. Shame really!

I basically own all five series made of Trek myself, and I do occasionally play a few episodes from ENT from time to time, along with all the other series. I'm in the process of upgrading TOS from DVD to Blu-ray, tho, since Season One is released, and awaiting Seasons Two and Three to bring TOS into the next-gen format. I'd have to think that Enterprise should be redone in Blu-ray myself, it was shot in high-def for UPN, as well as widescreen, was it not?

if he HAD to get his Kirk on, I'm glad it was with such an intelligent woman with a sense of humor.
Riann "What about the yellow dots?" Archer "What about them?" "How do we know they don't represent the field? Maybe it's the yellow button." "The blue one's lit." Riann "That's what worries me." Archer "We could debate this all day. Blue or yellow?" Riann "Blue."
...and apparently it was yellow. |
The way I see Archer is being "the best of both worlds" as far as captain is concerned. He's a middle-aged captain, like Picard, but he also had the same wits and gut instinct as Kirk did, and always seemed to find himself in the same troubles as Kirk was in. At least Picard was smart, he made his first officer assemble an away team for exploration, unlike Kirk and Archer which did most of the work with away teams themselves, which always put the captain in danger. Perhaps 24th century protocol probably uses captains to explore on an away team as a last resort. I'll have to verify this again.

In Exile Archer says: ARCHER: The Captain's always a part of first contact missions. Star Fleet regulations. I hope that's not a problem. Though he might be making that up.

Well, I dunno, Picard was hardly part of any away teams. ¿He always sent Riker as the head of exploration, for some unknown reason... Anyway, I'm watching "Civilization" on Syfy now, and I do remember watching this on DVD already. Certainly worth watching a second time around, tho.

Either Archer was making it up as an excuse for going (cause like Kirk he always wanted to lead the away team) or Starfleet later (after Kirk) realized that it was too dangerous to send the captain down on every first contact.

Heh... ¿Another good example of Archer finding himself in trouble was in yesterday's episode, "Impulse." ¿That had to be my favorite episode of all time. ¿Somehow those Zombie Vulcans turned me on, and watching Reed and Archer use their phasers on them. ¿It was almost like watching a video game, almost. ¿I loved that episode. Also couldn't help but love how T'Pol turned into a monster herself in this one... All thanks to finding that poisonous material in that asteroid belt.
