What books are part of the "Relaunch" series???

That's the post season seven stuff, beginning with "Avatar".

idunno I don't feel like listing them again.

I asked because I want to pick them up.

 sow(rr)ee

It was late at night when I posted before and my internet was being stupid and dodgy. ^_^

----------------
The vast majority of those books really are quite cool, though. I would recommend starting with "Twist of Faith" which is the omnibus edition of the first three or four (depending on if you count Horn and Ivory as a different story.)

They stand alone pretty well but like DS9 there is some story that depends a lot on what comes before.

Thanks

I wouldn't be too quick to say "thanks," amigo.

I'd consider myself a pretty hardcore DS9 fan, and I'm not a fan of the "Season 8 Relaunch." Personally, I think it reads a bit too much like fanfic ... and you start to realize what an important role such characters as Sisko, O'Brien, Worf, and Odo were to the show. 'Cause they ain't in the relaunch.

Instead, you have an Andorian science officer, a 100+ year-old human commander (I mean, you'd think with that many years under his belt, he'd be at least a captain) of the Defiant, and a Jem'Hadar whose name sounds like Tyrannosaur (yes, you can start moaning now). Oh, and Ro Laren. Who starts up a romance with Quark. Ya know, because that makes so much sense.

Now, you see where I'm goin' with the fanfic comment?

Plus, did I mention the fact perky little (counselor) Ezri switches to the Command branch?

Anyway, to those who enjoy the new DS9 novels? Great. I'm glad you like them.

But they're not for me.

DS9 canon = Seasons 1-7 and First Contact.

I'd say like everything go with it and make up your own mind on the subject.

Although wasn't the thing about Vaughn that he could have been a captain, but for the kind of stuff he had to do in his career, being a commander made him less visible.

Yeah -- some people like these things, some people don't. Check it out for yourself, stovokor -- and like I said, make up your own mind.

Depends on whom you're asking? There's no such thing as 'platonically canon', some thing is cannon as regarded by some person, and some entities have more authority like Gene Roddenberry, or Paramount. More people hear them than I if I say my fanfic in which Garak has Yaoi with Bashir is canon, but to me it so is.

Further more, canon means 'those things that really happened', and then you remember it's all fiction so ehh..

We all know Star Trek is just a made up world in the eyes of some poor socially discriminated black person in the 1950's, and we're his made up audience of that show.
