I'd rather the movie had been created the way Star Trek Phase II has.

The movie has so many things wrong with it you make a book!

you wouldn't believe he's a Commander,
and dosen't Vulcans have a gold yellow skin color, the Spock in the movie had a california sun tan,
and Vulcan's suppose to have green blood, I ¿remember his blood being pretty red when he got into a fight as a kid and was bleeding..
This movie sure disgraces TOS.

His blood was green in the film after the fight.

And Quinto did a fine job.

DJ, the blood was green. Everyone saw it. Your gripes dont even make sense anymore. You're in such denial that it's past the point of being a joke and I actually feel pity for you. You need some serious help. If this movie has rocked your world so much I fear that life will eat you alive when you actually get out into the world.

P.S. as far as Vulcans having "gold yellow skin" well, DUH what color do you think a sun tan gives you, genius?

I don't have a problem with the Alternate timeline or story. I can accept Kirk's rapid promotion given these extreme circumstances. But here are my gripes in order.

Engineering not being fully dressed. I could care less about it being filmed in a brewery. But not dressing the sets up enough did not give us the feel like we are on a starship.

Chekov's birthdate They could have easily made Chekov a 13 year old freshman cadet on some extended training. He could have participated in the transporter scene still just maybe not at the navigator station.

Hand Phasers sounding like birds chirping. I was at least expecting them to sound like the playmates toy a bit.

You da man, DJ! Great thread, sir! I would have voted all of the mentioned choices if I could have! It's hard to pick ONE off of THAT list!

I despised the movie, personally; but to my fellow fans that did not I would say: I have NOTHING personal against ANYONE who likes the movie! (no matter HOW ASTONISHED I AM, by your liking it!;) However, (some of) you, are very quick to play the increasingly tired "HATERS" card every time someone so much as sneezes in this movie's general direction! As many have pointed out; it IS a MOVIE!!! It's OK to "HATE" a MOVIE, isn't it? Is it REALLY EVIL if some of us "HATE" it and criticize it; as long as we give our reasons why, and don't insult those who disagree?

This IS a discussion board, after all; with a clearly defined topic! Why are some so DEFENSIVE of ol' J.J.? To some of us, he TRASHED something we love: STAR TREK! And, he was down right ARROGANT about it! So, intelligent counter arguments are great; likes and dislikes of movies are highly subjective; but, if all you have in your intellectual arsenal is "You HATERS!" then, why even bother to converse on the subject?

Both the lovers and the haters can be very attacking around here.

EDIT: If you recognized that taste in movies is subjective, then why are you so surprised that people will have a different subjective opinion than yours?

I suppose the answer to THAT IS; I'm a FLAWED HUMAN BEING who makes mistakes and fully admits that there are SOME THINGS in life that I JUST CANNOT UNDERSTAND! Or, to put it another way; You were a bit too literal in your interpretation of my statement. My use of the term "astonished" WAS, granted, a bit of HYPERBOLE on my part.

It's a form of editorializing, I guess. Yes, I WAS a bit disturbed and admittedly even disappointed by so many of the old timers liking the movie. Still, I was NOT "surprised" that people have different opinions than mine. Guess you could say that I was just a little caught off guard on this one.

In my time on this board I have found that people do often say outrageous things and I often think they are using hyperbole only to discover that they are not and they mean just what they are saying. So I have decided to take what they say at face value until they otherwise state differently.

As a long time fine I was very happy with this movie and I enjoyed it immensely.

Oh, by the way..WELCOME to the boards!
