Oh, I don't doubt you, never have, your facts are usually solid. Just didn't know that about Jen, though.

Some people just like to start arguments, and on these boards that's a daily occurrence !! I know I'm still a newbie of sorts, but I've very quickly learned who to listen to and who to ignore. You, I listen.

If Janeway was replaced, the same people would jump on the bandwagon to explain her shortcomings.
It's all (after the fact).

Perhaps. In many ways Kate Mulgrew had an even bigger challenge on her hands than Jen. As the captain of the ship, she had to win over the writers, the studio, and more importantly the fans. If Janeway didn't succeed, it would slam the lid on there ever being another female captain to replace her, and return women in Star Trek to the role of T and A and eye candy (I know, Seven). Jennifer Lien had a much easier time of it, and this from one of her fans.

You're right. Kate had to literaly carry the show as it's captain, and as the first female captain to be featured. As the captain she had to answer for all the decisions made, all of the questions fell to her. All Lien had to do was to hand the doctor a few hyposprays

That's true up to a point, Kes DID have a few eps where she was able to be a bit more than another pair of hands. Not many, I'll agree, but a few !!

I would include Warlord and Fury to that list. Both show Kes in a darker, less compliant mood.

If you suddenly went berserk at work, would your colleagues think it was you, or someone who's taken over your body ??
