SHIP!!! = EPIC!!!

One of the best TNG episodes ever and of course Frakes directed it. Doesn't he get all the good episodes. The intro to Cause and Effect is one of the best ever and owned my face back in the day.... still does.

This episode was one of the few that I actually saw the first time it ran. I totally thought it was over for the Enterprise!

One of my favorite episodes.

I remembered that episode. I was shocked and interested to see how all of this went down.

I was pleased to see Kelsey Grammer played Captain Morgan Bateson of the USS Bozeman at the end.

I would have loved to see Kirstie Alley play Lt. Saavik in this episode. Additionally, no disrespect to Robin Curtis, but I wanted to see Kirsite back as Lt. Saavik in the Search for Spock.

Originally, the USS Bozeman was going to be a TOS era Constitution-class starship, however, the episode's already stretched budget required the ship to be changed to Soyuz-class, which was a slight modification of the USS Reliant miniature and utilized sets and costumes from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. (Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion)

Yeah, i tuned it on as Enterprise-D was getting blown up and i was like "WTF did i miss?" Then the opening credits and it starts like a normal episode, so i forget what i first saw, then it ends the same way before commercial. Now, I'm really confused, "WTF is going on?!"
Braga had a way of penning an episode where all the obvious answers were stipped away one by one leaving you dazed and confused.

According to the Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion, the staff wanted Kirstie Alley, who played Grammer's Cheers co-star Rebecca Howe, to reprise her role as Saavik as the female bridge officer standing next to Captain Bateson on the Bozeman, but scheduling conflicts prevented this from happening.

Her schedule and what the companion doesnt tell you is that she wanted a rather large sum of money to reprise the role of Saavik.

Which also happens to be the same reason she didn't reprise her role in TSFS.

...And they should have used a Constitution Class Starship. That would have been SO cool.

I dont understand what a stretched budget has to do with with which model they pull out of mothballs to use in a shot.

Seems to me it would have been cheaper to repaint a new ship's registry on the 1701-A than to pay a crew to refit and modify the 1864

I always wondered what people were doing in their quarters when the Captain ordered "Abandon Ship!"

Ensign in shower: "What!? Oh cr#*!!!"
