Love it.

The reboot was aimed at everyone EXCEPT existing fans.
Looking for a new audience. Most of us old fans will be dead soon and many of us don't go to the cinema any more.

It's quite pathetic how fans of this new/sweet/cool movie (im being sarcastic if you cant tell) are now criticizing older fans and people who like the original star trek better than this videogame on steroids called star trek.....but i guess that's the times we're living in.....no respect for your elders or what's come before you.....just living in the here and now....one day when these little punks grow up and have it done to them when they're older, hopefully they're understand then what imbeciles they were

:honorable: But WE spend all the money on toys and clothing!  Never seen anyone under 40 with a phaser in hand.  The young'uns just sit and wait for us to drive them places.  I don't think anyone under 40 would actually pilot the enterprise (LOL).

If you pay attention there are several middle aged people on the bridge of the enterprise.

When I went to see the new film the Thursday night before the opening I was surprised to see the fans ranging in age 17-30 years old. Hmmm, some of them came dressed as Star Wars characters too. Looks like there is a whole new audience for Star Trek. Now that George Lucas has reduced his franchise to an animated special format there is a big cross-over audience to the new J.J. Abrahms series of film(s). May Star Trek live long and prosper...Already this film is a bigger grosser of all of the rest. For us old Trekkers, we can live secure that the old reality is still alive and coming out in Blue-Ray.

One bit of miss-casting. The Orion Animal Girl who was Uhura's roomie seemed a bit ditsy for a sultry, slave girl.

I'm glad it's a hit of course, but the new direction is not for me. I will have to content myself with re watching pre reboot. Which is fine as I have plenty to choose from.

Well now, that they opened Pandora's Box...

I want a new TOS crew for the next film!!!
A new design of the Enterprise (should look much cooler than in this one), and a new plot setup!!!

So that they will not have to worry about canon... hell, we do not need it. They would have to spend time and do research on TREK XI to write a sequel... instead, let's just reboot it.

This time Nero does back in time destroys the Kelvin, but his ship is also destroyed in the process...

Oh and TREK XIII should deal with Kirk never being born.

Maybe we can make movies about every single decission Kirk made in his life and explore the alternative...
What would happen if he dated Sandy instead of Sandra...

I am all in for reinventions... heck there are so many alternatives to explore.  :sarcastic:

Will they bring back Carol Marcus?
Will they bring back the Romulan captain babe that captivated Spock?
Will Khan be wrathful again?

We might know as early as 2011.

Although I think bringing back Khan would be a very bad ideal.

The current writers have such a limited imagination, anything is possible.

Jim and Carol live in a rose covered cottage on Alpha Centuri and every Sunday Jim and David play a game of spaceball as Uncle Leonard and Uncle Spock smile beatifically from among the roses.

Hmmmm I'm  thinking they might have a "Harry Mudd" character in the next movie.

It would be nice if they went ahead and started the 5 yr mission and went from there.
