LOL, still no one willing to admit they saw it in an old fashioned reel cinema ¿like most of regal cinemas.

I enjoyed the new movie for the first time in IMAX and it was at a Regal Cinema. Definitely the best way to view the first traditional Trek film to come along forty years after the cancellation of the original series.

When you say reel, do you mean on celluloid film or what?

I saw in IMAX.

I took him/her to mean the 35mm film reels used in cinemas. Not sure what else they could mean.

I think you're right, but most theatres are digital now.

Actually, most theaters are not digital.  Some are but not close to the majority.  Eventually they will be but for now, conversion to digital is cost prohibitive.

I saw it in the Imax and hated it. The Imax we went to was like a dome and with all the camera movement and the wrap around of the screen I almost threw up several times

The IMAX was beautiful, great sound, and because the sociological story and the excitement was so good inteh movie, IMAx made it spectacular. ¿

Why didn't you like the screen or sound of IMAX?

My IMAX experience was okay but I liked it more on the normal theater screen.

Because I was so close to the screen in IMAX it made it difficult to follow the action.  Also, with so large of a maginfication, there was quite a bit of edge softness on some of the images.

I saw it in standard format and DLP. I honestly could not tell the difference between standard film and DLP, they both looked and sounded great to me. I never saw any scratches or blotches on the film whatsoever. I didn't want to see it in IMAX because my eyes can't focus in on the action because the image extends into my peripheral vision.

I've seen it in IMAX (not true IMAX) and DLP. Took the parents a couple days ago to the DLP theater I frequent and they loved it. They're so used to seeing films at a regular theater with cheap seats (and prices). I treated but warned them, esp. my Mom with her hearing aids about the sound. The sound is great but I still wear ear plugs going to the theater. Anyway, get to the theater and its almost sold out (granted, it is now in the smaller theaters at the omniplexes) so my parents and I ended up down in front and not sitting together. Except for a few lines spoken softly, mostly by Spock, my Mom could hear every word. Dad liked the film, which is shocking and he has been giving me a pseudo Vulcan salute and saying "Live long and prosper" when I see him. I think I've created a monster. :O BTW, he really likes Chris Pine.

I saw this in IMAX with dolby 5.1 sound. Liked the picture did not love the picture. The Enterprise looked great the interior O deck had much 2 b desired felt like I was on a 20th century oil platform, this is suppose 2 b the most advance Starship ever built? WTH was up with every scene I had flashing lights in my eyes it made the IMAX Experience blinding It looked like I was being pulled over 4 a speeding ticket by the po po. I thought the Enterprise was built in space at the San Fransisco ship yards, right not Riverside ship yard Iowa? For the love of God would they keep that dam camera still on the action scenes! This has been a disturbing trend for the new Hollywood cinematographers please stop this trend & have more respect 4 the observer, you. THE ROMULANS R NOT BALD!! :eyesroll:

I am curious as to why and how many people would see this movie in reel. ?It must have looked terrible. ?Most sci-fi looks terrible on reel. ?Just curious as to why you would waste you money on reel because I truly believe that can effect your view of the movie.

When you pick which type, write down the type and whether you liked it or not? ?That way we can see if there is a correllation.

I haven't seen the movie yet ¿, but I'm going to tommorow. I especially like the fact that Sylar is playing Spock...he'll do a good job-fantastic actor (though it isn't all that difficult to play Spock since he's an emotional void). Zoe Saldana and Chris Pine's characters should also be great.

I would  to see it again in IMAX (3 times already). Just don't think I can pull it off during the next couple of days. Transformers will take over IMAX on Wednesday - so that leaves only tomorrow and Tuesday night to head out. It's at 9:35pm - add the 2+ hours running time and a half hour to drive home, you're looking at midnight and then I have to turn around and get up for work at 5am. Is it worth it?
