35mm vs 70mm vs imax makes a big difference for enjoying a film. Feeling the majesty of this film is really important, and I find that many people who saw it on 35mm with blury reel or scratchy reel either did not enjoy it, or for some strange reason did not understand the sociological 3rd culture story line with the nero being the hate and Kirk being the need for love. Spock in the middle with his 3rd culture situation. Excellent writing, classic Trek sociology, and beautiful imagery.

I did because I have a regal 2 minutes(walking) from my apartment. I will see it in imax when I see it again.

I had to drive a ways away to get away from Regal junk theaters, so I don't blame you for going.

I plan on seeing it this weekend at the IMAX... I have no idea what the one I saw in has as far as sound... But i saw it at the Cineramadome in Hollywood... It's supposed to be one of the best places to see a movie.

I saw it on IMAX tonight. I wasn't impressed. I was wishing I had saved $5 and just went to a regular showing again.

The IMAX was beautiful, great sound, and because the sociological story and the excitement was so good inteh movie, IMAx made it spectacular.
Why didn't you like the screen or sound of IMAX?

The sound was better, but the screen just didn't work for me. It didn't help that some of the scenes at the end were blurry, as if we got a bad print.

How on earth would the quality of the print affect people's judgement or reception of the socialogical message? HD results in clearer images and crisper audio, that's it. After that, standard definition is exactly as good. I did see it in IMAX the first time and I didn't explicitly get that message. What made IMAX different for me was the rumble seats. THAT made the jump to warp effect more than just pop. I felt it. That the theater was filled with that "opening night magic" and that the screen was HUGE affected me the most after that.

I thought the same thing colonelkernal until I found out that people were so focused on trying to see the images they were not paying attention to the story.

I saw it in traditional cinema. Didn't care for the way the engine room looked. Would it look better in I-Max?
