I'm right there with you. To us Voyager fans, taking away Janeway is like killing off Picard for TNG fans, or killing of Kirk for TOS fans (ouch!). Luckily, Picard is still intact, but we all felt the sting off Kirk's death in Generations. Don't let Janeway end in such a meaningless way. I've been clinging to hope that she didn't really die. Hoping that it was something similar to what happened to Picard in that episode where he revisited his youth. -Nate-

Dead to the "real world". Q-ized otherwise.

Q-ized otherwise. |
But we don't know that. That female Q could have snatched her up right before her moment of death, just like the Picard episode I referred to. Picard wasn't Q-ized, just taught a lesson then returned to the normal time. -Nate-

Firstly, I can't wait until the book comes out!
Not to be negative but I wasn't a big fan of the Voyager novels after End Game. It felt like to me that Golden wrote for the Voyager characters with certain character development aspects that only took place in her previous novels. From someone who had never read her work with Voyager before and only knew the TV series, the character's actions and word choice felt very foreign to me.
After reading a book she had done in the past that I actually really enjoyed, I could see where she was getting all the Chakotay likes to be a jaguar and spirit animal stuff but that just wasn't emphasized on the show as much. So that felt really odd to me.
The entire Libby is a secret Agent that Harry is in love with didn't really click with me either. What happened to the girl Harry slept with and biologically became attached too? I know she's in the Delta Quaderent but he seemed much more in love with her then some girl from 7 years ago.
I respect Golden's work but I just didn't like her take on how things played out. Hopefully this new book will revive the series for at least me.

You know...at least Christie Golden wasn't the one who offed Janeway. I mean, maybe she is gone and maybe she isn't...but I'm telling you, I'm not really that thrilled that Peter David made Janeway out to have such a huge ego! Bash, bash, bash, pretty much all the way through the beginning of the book! I admire what B'Elanna was doing, but I agree it sucks that she had to go away from Tom, rather than stay with him or bring him along. Ooh. And I'm bitter about Janeway being 'gone' for a lot of reasons, but I feel like she didn't get anything GOOD. I mean, they all come back and yes, she got to be an Admiral, but it felt like they just shoved her in a corner and left her. She didn't get a relationship, and they didn't hardly touch on the personal aspects of the character. It wasn't fair. They kept up with Picard pretty well...personal life and all.

Seriously. Janeway came off as a bit of a shrew in BD.

Bear in mind that Spirit Walk ended roughly midway through 2378 and Before Dishonor takes place - again roughly - in June of 2380.
There is still a lot of Janeway to come in Full Circle.
Best, Kirsten

So then the Voyager books you are writing don't take place at the same time as other Star Trek books coming out? Am I to understand that they take place a year or two behind them? -Nate-

I believe Full Circle is going to cover that missing 2 years, so by the end of next year the Voyager novels should be up to speed with the other novels.

The Destiny Trilogy picked up where TNG and Titan had left off, so those two series will continue forward from roughly Feb of 2381 after Destiny with Bill Leisner writing the next TNG book and Chris Bennett writing the next Titan Book. A Singular Destiny by Keith is also a follow up to Destiny featuring characters from across the board and some fabulous new ones. Voyager will be brough up to the the events of Destiny and a little beyond in Full Circle (after beginning mid 2378) so yes, the "missing years" are covered. Though Destiny also features many DS9 characters, it is my understanding that a number of stories remain to be told between 2377 - where the series left us in Fearful Symmetry and 2381, when Destiny ends. So, basically, TNG, Titan and Voyager will be roughly working in the same time frame going forward but not so much DS9. There is no arbitrary rule about all of the series remaining concurrent to allow for maximum creative possibilites for the editors and writers. Kirsten
