I'm completely new to RPG's. Although I've been a Star Trek fan my entire life, I don't want to get in over my head by jumping into a game I'm not ready for. Is there a good RPG for beginners? A Starfleet Academy perhaps?

Welcome to the crew! I hope you enjoy RPG'ing. There are essentially two main routes you may consider: 1. Join the STSF (find out more here: http://boards.startrek.com/communi....31611472. If you're a beginner, I'd suggest starting with an RPG that uses characters you already know, like this Voyager one: http://z11.invisionfree.com/voyager/index.phpThat way you can get the hang of it, and when you feel you're comfortable enough with it, you can join some of the more original ones. Good luck, and welcome!

I don't think there are actually any simms more suited to newbies like yourself than others - the best thing to do is go in headfirst and play any posistion you want on two or three ships, and then go up from there. I started playing a Chief Security Officer on the Enterprise-D simm, and Science Officer/XO on the old Starship Intrepid. Now i'm XO of one, and Captain of the other, with about fifteen other characters on fifteen other simms. And i ended up fine. LOL. Names Captain Xon, if you want any more advice.

My advice Cadet, is find a good simm with a good crew who will work with you and help you advance in your 'Starfleet' Career. Any ship with an experienced crew would be good. Create a character of your own, that way you'll feel more comfortable when RPING, and remember, just do your best to have fun. That's what this is all about after all. Here's the link to my site, if you'll like to give it a look. We always have room for trainee's. http://s9.invisionfree.com/star_trek_revelation/index.php?
