There will be people who like it and people who don't like it. If you're not sure maybe you could see if you can get it at your library. And yes, it's one continuing story though both books. There is also another 2-book series set after Homecomming

personaly I wasn't crazy about the books

I enjoyed the book quite thoroughly.  I thought that the idea and plot was although involving the Borg a nice new twist to this old villain.  I've read it many times and have enjoyed it every time.  It is a two booker, and the second one is called The Farther Shore.  Both are pretty good.

Well, the book did get me interested and into the storyline, but then it just ended up disappointing me. There was no sense of completion or satisfaction of where the characters were when the story finally ended. A lot of stuff seemed meaningless by the end too, like it was just thrown in there for the hell of it. Some people praise the heck out of it though, so I guess you'll just have to read it to find out.

I've read "Homecoming" and "The Farther Shore" I must admit that they gave me mixed emotions.

Let's take the good things first: The books are well-written and there are some good adventures in them. Christie Golden is an good author and she clearly have an affection and understanding for the Voyager characters ?

It was nice to read about how the old favorites finally arrived home and were received. There were also some things in the story that could develop into some interesting future plots, like Montgomery's scemes.

That was the good side, now here comes the bad side:

Kes is missing! There! I've said it! I don't think that I will ever appreciate or like a Voyager book where The Golden Lady Of Voyager isn't present.

The Borg plague was utterly silly. It remained me about a Monty Python sketch.

I do hope that this Phytonesque attempt to conquer the Earth will be the last we will see of The Borg, at least for the coming ten years. They were great back in the early TNG days but now they are only silly.

But my main impression of "Homecoming" is more like...well, this is going to be one of my usual parables but this will explain my feelings about "Homecoming" and the Voyager Relaunch:

A relative of mine is an ardent fan of a certain rock band which had some international success in the end of the 60:s and beginning of the 70:s. My relative is a collector of things related to the band, albums, bootlegs from different concerts, videos, posters, books. But he steadily refuses to buy any of the solo albums the leading band members have done in recent years because he finds their current music lightweighted, adapted and too far away from the magic that the band members created together back in the good, old days. The magic isn't there anymore.

I get a similar feeling when I read "Homecoming". As I said before, it's well-written and there will probably be some interesting things in future Voyager stories but it will never be the same as when they were together in the Delta Quadrant, alone, facing unknown dangers and wonder if they ever would return to Earth. The magic isn't there anymore!

I do find it hard to see how it will be possible to come up with good stories about the crewmembers when Janeway has been promoted to a desk-clerk, when Paris and Torres have been ruined as great action characters by becoming "Married With Children", when The Doctor has been reduced to Barclay's house pet and when Kes and Neelix are missing. I'm afraid that the "relaunch" in the long run will be focused on one or two characters while the others will be shoved in the background.

I have all the Voyager episodes taped and on DVD up to "Worst Case Scenario", I have all the books up to "Pathways" and I still get a kick from reading and watching some old episodes. I have re-read books like "The Black Shore", "Marooned" and "Caretaker" from time to time but I?m not sure if I will re-read "Homecoming" in the coming future.

I wish all success for the "Voyager Relaunch" because, after all, we do want to read about the continuing missions of our favorites but I must admit that I don't find the "After-Endgame" scenario that interesting. However, I do hope that some good book turns up which will give me the interest back.

you do realize that you just gave away several plot points to someone who just said that they haven't read the book :eyesroll:

Stop harrassing me!

I'm tired of your constant bickering every time I write something!

What I did was to mention only a few things. I did mention one person who is important to the story, I did mention the Borg plague which can be found on the cover of both books I wrote about.

As for the characters, I didn't mention more than the total destruction to some of them which have already been made by your "gods" in the later seasons, especially "Endgame", nothing more.

But of ocurse you did see your chance to come up with some evil, sarcastic comment about it. Not to mention that you continue with the bickering in your next post.

But what can I expect from you?

My suggestion would be, you should buy the book and read it, then judge for yourself.
And limit what you read on message boards such as these until you have a chance to read it.

I have edited my post and written a new comment, similar to what one of your friends could have written, the only difference is that I'm not writing that the book "sucks". It's not that bad.

I guess it's the way to communicate on this parody of a forum.

you are a child aren't you. I didn't say the books suck, my exact words were "personaly I wasn't crazy about the books"

if you think that this is such a "parody of a forum" then why continue posting? :eyesroll:
