"The Wrath of Kirk"
This is what the Klingon encounter scene in Star Trek III could have looked like.

What's going ON in here?

Here's a dumb and funny story. I used to hang out with Rodney Bingenheimer (see the movie "Mayor of the Sunset Strip"), a Los Angeles disc jockey and hay-day (70's) Sunset Strip club owner, responsible for introducing a tremendous lot of music to the States...Bowie, Dramarama, Go Go's, Blondie, etc etc.

Here's a bad photo of us around 1997.

Well, I am of course a rabid David Bowie fan. KROQ holds the "KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas" at the Universal Amphitheatre every December. When I heard Bowie would be performing, I ecstatically accepted a pass from Rodney (who ironically sent out Bowie's demo tape to producers in the late 60's; they remain friends) and sat through the guy from Green Day bearing his derrier.

Here's a backstage photo...no, not of the derrier.

Bowie's in the middle with yes, a mohawk, and on the right is the guy who directed the movie about Lou Reed (I think). What takes the cake? I was too scared to ask for a photo WITH Mr. Bowie. Duh...duh...duh...  :O

Rodney! My brother and I grew up listening to that guy on KROQ. Certainly had the knack for turning over rocks and finding stuff you'd never hear anywhere else... Bowie's looking dapper as always... :D

I made the photo here at home on my computer using a
variety of software.

My computer is nothing fancy; the CPU is just an old Pentium
233Mhz.

Oh, now I'm disappointed. I thought you made that picture through your telescope from the sky.

Way, way too freakin' cute.

Well, I'm off on a redeye tonight for a few weeks of vacation in the Adirondacks (northern New York for you geographically deprived among us). My uncle has a place on an island in Upper Saranac Lake, near Lake Placid. I don't have any summer pics on the 'puter, but here's a winter shot when the lake is frozen 3 feet thick; just imagine all the white stuff is water.

Birch Island getaway

And here's what I'll be doing after a long, hard day of wakeboarding/fishing/drinking:

Hunter on the dock

Sorry the pics are so small. Damned technology...

I know you will all miss me very much  :eyesroll:  and please know that I will be thinking of you about once every fiftieth time I head to the fridge for a cold one  :D  ...
They only have dial-up there, so I probably won't be checking in very often. Please don't cry.

Cheers!
Hunter

p.s. I know it's a dirty, thankless job but would someone please keep an eye on iagoswife for me while I'm away; I'm afraid that in my absence her unchecked ego will inflate to epic proportions :p ...

PLEASE!!!  Can you explain to me how to insert a photo or picture here?.  Not the links, the actual insert!

Thanks in advance.

By the way  very cool pic!
