For several months, we've been producing a monthly Star Trek Book Club event. We pick a new book when it comes out, give you a month to read it, then invite you to a live chat with the author.

What can we do to make this even better?

- Is monthly too often? Not often enough?
- Do you like the books we've chosen?
- Is the chat time convenient for you? Is there a time that works better?
- Do you prefer to send in your question in advance? Or during the chat?
- Are there upcoming books that you'd like to chat about?
- Are there specific authors you'd like to chat with?

We're looking for your feedback. Please post your comments and suggestions here. Of course, we can't guarantee that we can do everything you suggest... but we definitely want to know what you think.

Thanks in advance for your comments! :)

1. I think monthly is good
2. Books so far have been good (are there any really bad ones?)
3. Chat times seem fine
4. I perfer to send in questions but that is my opinion
5. Obviosly the rest of the series of A Time To... would be great
6. Peter David??  Maybe just me.

It is a great idea for a Star Trek book club, This I think will get more people into understanding the quality of books out there and how 'fun' then can be.

1 Fine with me
2 Yes
3 It would be better being a few hours earlier, perhaps 9PM BST
4 During the chat
5 Not specifically. Maybe the rest of the "A Time To..." series
6 Diane Carey, Dean Wesley Smith & Kristine Kathryn Rusch, J.M. Dillard

I really enjoyed the chat with John Vornholt on the 4th May (even though it didn't finish 'til gone midnight). However I won't attend the next bookclub chat as I have no interest in reading an Enterprise novel (Deep Space Nine or The Next Generation and I'd be there).

I would also enjoy talking to Peter David, as I have read a few of his Star Trek books and I really believe he is a great Star Trek author.  He just captures the essence of the characters so well.

Yeah, great choices! But they're all new ones, why not go back to people like Diane Duane and A.C. Crispin who haven't written in Trek recently?

No preference.

None specifically, if I was too fussy I'd spend more time at TrekBBS and Psi Phi.

I have always wanted to be involved with one of these chats, but haven't been able to.  I am always so busy with school work or whatever that these book chats always review books before I am able to read them!!!!

Hey there you guys, i was just thinking....how about a special talk about the ds9 season 8 books?
I know you wouldnt be able to go tell everyone to read ALL of them then go to the chat, but it could be a chat for everyone on this site who has read them and people who are interested in them can ask us questions about them and stuff, maybe you could even have some of the writers of them there!

A thought: can you get authors to do the chats who aren't otherwise active online?

(A lot of Trek authors post on internet message boards . . . )

Monthly is fine. It gives plenty of time to read the books; also the book is fresh in the mind during the chat.

Yes the books are excellent choices, keep them coming!

The chat time is reasonable for me as it is in the evening. Any later in the day (your time) would be too late for me though.

During the chat, question ideas are prompted by other users. It also seems to be quieter than the other guest events.

Peter David, Diane Carey, Greg Cox, Christie Golden to name but a few.

Would there be also a facility for fan reviews of the upcoming chat books, perhaps the administration can select the best ones to go on the site. I see that it is currently a work in progress, will this include books?

Would it be possible to have a poll, say 5-10 of the latest books? The winner here could be the subject of the next chat with its author.

Can we cycle from the older books to the newer books? There are many great books that have been missed in chats.
