For those who have read the ever-enjoyable Borg novel, what was up with Soco and Stevens? They never explained that. Was it merely Lady Q?

It was (remember when Picard asked about those officers and his superiors didn't know, what he was talking about).
The book was horrible, btw. David ruined Kadohata (who was introduced in such a great manner by krad) and he came up with one of the most stupid plots I have ever read. The setup was promising, but the execution was horrible. I hope he stays out of TNG, and continues his own series (which I won't try after that disappointment).

I have to agree with you to a certain extent, Captain_Storma. I also found the plot a little far-fetched and I didn't think it was well executed. However, I highly recommend David's New Frontier series. I've read a handful of Peter David books and this is the only one that I didn't care for.

Soco was that woman on Vulcan who was a friend of Perrin's. She later found out that she never made it. She spooked Picard with that premonition. I can easily see Stevens being Lady Q. The way he was always joking. Also, I really like Peter David. He's my favorite author of all time. But who the hell is he to kill off Janeway?

I'm halfway through the book, and I gotta say I'm not liking it all that much. It's just so #### convoluted. You have the Q in it(excuse me, "Lady Q"), Spock, a space jockey who's supposed to be like Hans Solo, Sarek's third wife, and an Enterprise crew that appears to be at each other's throats. Plus, a plot that was obviously meant to revitalize the Borg after the damage that had been done to them in the last 2 or 3 seasons of VOY, but in actuality it is making me wish writers would just let the Borg fade away. Absortion instead of assimilation? A living cube? Oh shut the hell up! Am I missing something else? Because I can only envision the book getting worse as I near the end.

Well, it did not feel real... for example: Facing the probably biggest thread Earth ever had, two Admirals just joke around and use colloquial language... Picard and Calhoun joke around with this "Commodore" thing... Picard was completely out of character... Then this whole sucking up Pluto thing... and then the sun. It was just ridiculously written, and I could see some cheap B-movie style SFX in front of my mental eye... It started really great, but turned into a true disaster... And why include Spock in the story, anyway? Sorry, but this one was a complete letdown. Let's hope the best for next installment.

I come to find out that this book is Part II to J.M. Dillard's Resistance, released 2 months prior to Before Dishonor. This book explains about the Enterprise single-handedly defeating the Borg cube, and this violation of Janeway's orders they keep referring to.
I didn't know it was a second parter to anything. I just saw thiis new Peter David book and thought, "This looks cool!!"

Actually, it's not the second "part," it's the third. In September, October, and November, Pocket released three post- Nemesis books, Resistance by J.M. Dillard, Q & A by Keith R.A. DeCand i d o (that's me), and Before Dishonor by Peter David. Q & A doesn't involve the Borg, but it does introduce the characters of Kadohata and Leybenzon. Instead, it's a big-ass Q story that ties together all of his previous appearances. Edited to add: For some reason, the board software, which was obviously written by drunken monkeys coming off a meth-bender, is "censoring" the last four letters of my last name for no good reason that I can see. This is the second time that's happened, and it really needs to stop....

In that order? Or does Q&A come first?
Would you recommend Resistance? How about Q&A for that matter? lol!

Wow, are we reading the same book? ¿I thought Before Dishonor was the best Trek book I've ever read (and I've read a lot of them). ¿I couldn't put it down; and the cast of characters were intriquing and had depth (a rarety for Trek books). ¿It was well written (again, another rarety for recent Trek books). I thought the combination of Lady Q, Spock, Janeway, Seven, and the TNG crew was awesome. ¿In addition, Peter David's humor is biting and well-written. ¿And when the Borg threatened Q? ¿That was classic! Lastly, the last chapter makes it clear that Stevens was Lady Q. ¿ I read Resistance, but have yet to read Q and A. ¿I'm looking forward to it. ¿We'll see if the ole' Krad can outdo Peter David. ¿I'll let you know, Krad--it will be the first book I've read that was written by you! (I haven't gotten to the "Time To . . . " book you wrote. ¿So many Trek books; so little time! In addition, some of you commented that the story line is far-fetched. Whenever I read a Star Trek book, and it is predictable or cliche, I think to myself, "This is science fiction. The author has so much freedom; why limit it?" With Before Dishonor, I felt that I was actually reading an author who was taking chances, creating an entire realm that is new and fresh for ST, and is going outside of the box (A living Borg? Absorption rather than assimilation? That's new stuff! . So I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The intended reading order is Resistance, then Q & A, then Before Dishonor.

I will look into those.
I'd like to say, Krad, that I'm glad there are authors like you and Mr. Dave Mack who connect almost daily with the readers. Some authors write books, then go in hiding. I always appreciate your input, and I'm reminded of how awesome you both are every time I see one of your posts. I have yet to read any of either yours or Mack's. But I promise because you both are so commendable, I will.
Also, my girlfriend is a huge Resident Evil fan and has a couple of your novels there. =)
