With the death of HD-DVD, the re-mastering of seasons 2 and 3 of TOS have been canceled. Which really sucks because it was the only reason i bought HD in the first place http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news....018

this is why you should never jump on a bandwagon too early.
Same goes for Windows Vista, or the new Mac Airbook.

The response I got is NO... there are no plans on going to Blu-ray at all. I posted the email I received in another thread.

HD-DVD was just another in a long line of screwups Paramount has made concerning Trek.
First place it was way too early to put out a High Def DVD set.
And second, Paramount is well know for pulling licenses from companies creating any thing that is a set released a little at a time.
No Surprise from this announcement from them.

That would be cool if they did a BlueRay version of the Trek shows and movies. Also have all the Trek shows remastered and on BlueRay.

I am not that bothered about HD Failing, even though i have an HD DVD player. I have the PS3 but that not the reason either.
If you put a normally purchased DVD in my HD DVD player, it upscales to 720. My tv is 1080 but still and watching an HD DVD would be 1080, but still i get an upscalled picture for quite cheap...
I have a few blu ray movies, they aint that impressive, its gd for action movies or spiderman, but i got Hitch, its like the same as normal lol

Does anyone know if the re-mastered versions of seasons 2 and 3 will be released at all? Even on regular DVD?

That site hasn't got it entirely right.
Toshiba hasn't been paying for the 'remastering' - that has been paid for fully by CBS. Toshiba was only paying for the episodes to be encoded to work on HD-DVD. So the remastering work is continuing.
I'll be proved right once the last of the 'remastered' episodes have appeared on US TV.
EDIT: They've finished 'remastering' season 2 anyway. That's another thing that website has wrong. All they have left to do is around half a dozen season 3 episodes. So season 2 could be released on Blu-ray as easily as season 1.

Do you know if there are definite plans to do so?
