There's a post over at TrekBBS by someone who used to work at the Experience and  still has friends over there.

I'm really hoping this is just another rumor. Do you have the exact link to the post?

It doesn't like a rumor this time, but I will ask  what the situation is when I go to Vegas in August.

This is much more detailed than the previous rumors.

My contact did say that if they were to ever close STTE it would be after the convention (in ANY year). He also has stated that the rumor has been going on since 3 months after it OPENED! I may give either STTE or Cedar Fair a call, I'm not sure.

Update: I just sent an email to Cedar Fair, hopefully I'll get a reply.

If they are closing, I'd like to make one more visit, but I'm not gonna make plans until it's official

Reason why it won't close:

The amount of money the attraction takes in.  Plus the fact that they just added a second level.  And you know that everytime there is a convention in town their ticket sales skyrocket.  And you have to consider the Hilton in all of this, why would they allow an attraction which brings tourists and money to their casino, to close?

Reality Check:

The attraction is almost 10 years old, so it will need some kind of update, but I think its going to be around for years to come.

Exactly! I have been there in their supposed off "season" and it had 2 hr long waits to get on. When I was there last year they said as long as its making money they will remain open.

I would be happy if it turns out that this is false. Trust me.

I went summer '06 and I think there was a reasonable amount of people there. I normally had to wait for about 1 ride length. Not too bad. I was the only one in uniform though!

And my contact states that it is highly unlikely that the experience is closing. The "employees" that began this rumor stated that they were aware of the closing, as I was told, the employees would be the last ones to know. Also, the rumor stated that CBS, Cedar Fair AND the Hilton all had to agree to renew the contract. This is untrue, because CBS is no longer involved with the Experience, they sold it to Cedar Fair and along with it any say they had in the contract with the Hilton, etc.

That's good to know, but when I get checked in at the Hilton, I'll ask at the front desk just to be sure.
