HD-DVD appears to have the monopoly on Trek, for the time being.

Wal-Mart just announced the defining choice..

Blu-Ray...

425 dollars out the door.

Rush out and get your's now.

And any one who bought the current TOS HD season, throw it away, and rebuy a Blu-Ray set is they ever come out.

I'd trust a more official Trek source first, before Wally-Mart...

Well I'm glad I only got into the High Def scene a little more than a month ago.  Glad I picked Blu Ray.  A little disappointed that the ol' DVD's that I have look crappy on 1080p.

the topic of this thread was discussing if the fate of Star Trek was to be on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray...

the topic is/was not which would ultimately win the high-def war.

Just to clarify.

well i doubt Paramount/VIACOM will continue to produce HD DVD's if the majority of the Movie Studios, Walmart, Best Buy, Toshiba (the main company for producing HD DVD players) all abandoned HD DVD. So I think this is all relavant here.

But I'd say Paramount will announce soon what it will be doing with the High Def generation of dvd's.

I seem to remember that for (albeit a very brief) time, Beta was declared the winner over VHS...

First time poster here. ¿Just had to voice my opinion on the HD DVD matter. ¿I've just returned to the realm of Trek after a few year hiatus...(Voyager and Enterprise just turned my stomach tooooo much)...anyway, and I learned of the HD Season one set! ¿I got so excited, I went out and bought an HD DVD player, and the set (which still hasn't arrived I might add), and YESTERDAY I find out that HD DVD has died a terrible Betamax death! ¿ARRRRGGHHH! ¿And Toshiba was footing the bill for the TOS HD conversion, and they pulled the plug on that too! ¿So there's not going to be a Season 2 or 3!
Am I mad? ¿A little. ¿Disappointed? ¿A LOT! ¿I wanted the full set! ¿I guess it'll be forever till Paramount the the same thing with Blu-ray.
Ok..I've vented enough. ¿Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.
