I would love that.

In fact there could be a visual guide covering all the latest TREK books, beginning with the DS9 relaunch.

I would love to see Tezwa, the new crew of the Enterprise, the Gorkon crew and of course the crew of the Titan, furthermore the aliens those crews have encountered.

Who should we talk to about this?

Pocket Books...

The company that will say we can't do that.

I'm really liking the Titan series, but sometimes I have trouble picturing the crew.  I can kind of picture Doctor Ree, but one crew member is described as "looking like a lamp"!  Not helpful.

That's why I think they should put together a pictorial reference guide.  Other books do it, so do some films.  All you need to do is get some good artists, comicbook artists would be fine.

Would anyone else like to see such a product?
How about one for Picard's new crew?
Or the UFP Presidential staff?

Shouldn't be too difficult to picture Doctor Ree, as he's on the front cover of Orion's Hounds.

But agreed, it would be nice to have some "cast photos" of the crews, like what Peter David did with New Frontier (Martyr and Fire on High)

Though I'm not extremely interested in reading the Titan series (I read a lot of other Trek novels) I'd probably be more enticed to do so if a visual guide was available.  Its not necessary but it might whet my, and others, appetites.

Do any of you know how to contact the authors of the various novels?

Google 'em, find their websites.
DeCan#### and David Mack check post on these boards fairly regularly, as does Dayton Ward.  A couple others have shown up from time to time.

For the Titan crew, I found this earlier today: Titan crew - apparently this guy has come up with their own views of the Titan crew, some we've seen on camera other's we haven't. I think their choice for Vale is a good one and rather interesting.

For Counselor Huilan: he's basically been described as Stitch (yes, Stitch from Lilo and Stitch)
"Chaka": I picture her as a gigantic terantula(sp) with robotic elements.

Not quite what I had pictured in my mind.
Decent enough choice though.

"robotic elements"?

Chaka is no Borg!

pretty sure that character has cybernetic implants though (non-Borg).

You need to read some Star Wars books.  They are much more descriptive!  And they tend to put all the characters on the cover.

Unless something happens in the third book, you're wrong about that.

She has a device that translates her vocalisations and signings into speech, but it's not an implant.

My bad, I was thinking of Torvig.

This discussion reveals a part of the problem with the Titan series overall.  There are too many characters to keep track of and there was no attempt to make (from the beginning) a solid cast of a half-dozen characters that readers can get to know through and through.  Unfortunately, Riker and Troi still stand in the backdrop of the series, rather than taking on lead rolls.

So, in the midst of numerous characters, all of which can get confusing to keep track of, we lose Riker and Troi in the process, and their growth as characters.

When there is no real focus on a few characters, there can be no character development and no real character conflict--that which makes fiction worthwhile.  I've read all the books, and have yet to be really impressed whatsoever.  I don't blame the authors; I think they are merely making due with the hand they've been dealt.  The genre is very limited.

I think you might be getting a little ahead of yourself there ignatius22, one little moment of mistaken identity doesn't mean anything like you propose.

I have little trouble handling the cast of characters, I would just like to know what everyone looks like.

I can sort of see his viewpoint though.
I'd rather more attention to the main cast rather than the fairly frequent attention to the secondary (and tertiary) characters that have been introduced.
HOWEVER... I would not want the secondary characters to be under-utilized.  It's a tough balance to find that I don't envy of the authors; so far, so good.
(But what happened to Mekrikuk??)

You mean after he left Titan?

I guess well have to wait and see.

Yes, after he disembarked the Titan in The Red King.
Since the Titan is way off in deep-space, I doubt we'll be seeing him any time soon... too bad.
