Star Trek Will you buy Star Trek XI merchandise?

I was walking by the toy department at Wal-Mart tonight, and it hit me. I collect alot of Trek merchandise including action figures, posters, t-shirts, etc. The merchandise for ST:XI will be out a month or so before the movie. So, I'm thinking, should I buy any of this stuff? What if the movie bombs? What if I hate the movie? Do I really want an action figure of Chris Pine as Kirk? What if I don't buy anything, and I love the movie and then can't find any of this stuff later?

The TMP action figures didn't do that well in 1979, only the really rare ones are worth anything now. It will be a real crap shoot for whatever company produces these things.

What do all of you think?

Of course I will. I already have a prelimanary movie poster. It is a large white poster with Star Trek lettering in the TOS style and the release date.

There has got to be a poster of Old Spock and New Spock face to face (similar to the cover of Spock vs. Q)

Yeah, I have the poster they were giving away in Vegas. Actually, I have two, since my wife got one as well.

I'm looking mainly for starships and a novelisation myself. Maybe a phaser and tricorder as well.

Now if someone gave me some thing, I would definitely take it..

Then try and sell or trade it for something Star Trek.

Yes, I will most definitely buy something related to this movie. At the very least the DVD. I'm thinking I'll need a coffee mug.

Whatever else will depend on availability and any particular interests I may develop after watching the movie.

I'll see the movie...maybe buy the DVD down the road. and the sound track...but other then that, no I don't collect any Star Trek stuff any more...
Now, American Flyer "S" Gauge Trains, those I collect (e-bay is a dangerous place for me)
Art of course, but only by those still living...except for the small Maxfield Parrish illustration.

I am extremely biased when it comes to this because the truth is, my favourite actor will be playing Bones and if they ever make action figures from that movie, you can be sure I'll be buying McCoy even though I've never bought any Star Trek action figures before. Heck, I'll be buying anything where McCoy figures prominently.

And I will be buying the DVD even if I'm not too crazy about the movie (which I doubt will happen and I want to stay very positive about it) because that's how much I love Karl Urban.
