If a single hit from a romulan plasma torpedo can devastate an outpost that's "a mile deep in an asteroid of nearly solid iron" with shield on maximum, How massive a power system would it take to make that plasma?

calculations made by waries and Trekkies from various ST vs SW forums have placed the upper limited of the weapon at around 800 MT to a 1GT..

wow, i feel it is a valid question.

From the episode we learn that the Bird of prey doesnot have warp power, which i took to mean it didnot use antimatter as a fuel source. So if they are purely a fusion power plant this is some feat..

You can say that but you have little proof. Furthermore, unless you have something relevant about my question keep out.

Um, no.

The sock-puppet part, you moron.

And you will butt out if all you're going to do it post whiny BS. There is a reason that we are discussing science here; because this is an interesting technological subject. We have no other motive here. So either join in and contribute to the discussion or bugger off!

I'm sure all this will prove useful in Venicius' later work. Thank you all for participating.

Look who's trying wear the big pants around here. If you want to tell someone what to do, it helps to make sure that they're not the type of person who will laugh in your face for trying.

Considering some of the sh!+ I've seen around here lately, I simply cannot believe that at this time.

There has been speculation that the Romulan ship did have a warp drive, but it was altered to pour its energy into the weapon rather than into warp coils. Also, in TNG, Romulan ships used artificial quantum singularities to power their ships. Do we know when they developed this technology?

On a side note, calling the weapon a "plasma torpedo" is erroneous. Torpedoes don't change shape and size (or for that matter, have an indeterminate shape and size) as they move through space, nor are they see-through.
