Con was good but not as exciting as last year (prob. b/c I knew what to expect). 5 days next year....oy!

Wil Wheaton was hilarious. Totally deconstructed the ep: "Justice" in hysterical and profane ways. They put him in this small room (not main con room) at 6:45pm after the rest of the day was over. The rumor is they were ticked at him b/c he won't do photo ops so they shoved him over to the side.

Terry Farrell looked gorgeous. She said she'd gained some weight. What!?!? Is a homemaker raising a kid. Admitted she never has to work again after DS9 and Becker . Also, said she left b/c of the $. Nice to hear the truth! Said it had nothing to do w/creative differences. Also told us she's 6' tall.

Gates McFadden was fun. Told us why she left. Not for $ but b/c she felt Wesley should come to her for mentoring not to male characters. One writer or producer (she didn't say who) disagreed. She said, "It's him or me." TPTB chose him. The next year, they changed their mind and said, "Gates, we choose you."

Kate M. flew in and out pretty quickly as she's in a new play. Here's the URL if anyone is interested:

Braga was interesting. He said he didn't like the last ep. of Enterprise and it was a mistake. Plus, he killed Trip b/c he was his favorite character and as he knew the show was ending he said, "What the heck?"

Ronald Moore was in the secondary room. He explained the f/x and brought props and had a slideshow. He showed how he shook a silver pompom to make the transporter. Also, other funny things like how he used a flashlight in the inside of a pipe in the 'microbrain' ep. of TNG. Also, I kid you not, how he used dog poop to make a brown planet...

Here are the vids I took:

Nope.  Sorry, it says 'no audio'  at YouTube.  Just a small digital camera.

This was my First time going to the Convention.. but I only stayed for 1 day (Thursday) yet Still enjoyed that I was there with people who appreciate Trek.  I only stayed for 1 day becasue  I changed my plans accomodate a friend who wanted to accompany me who then changed  his plans again and long story short.. my plan to stay for the entire convention whittled down to just 1 day.  All bitterness aside I went on Thursday and got to see & hear Levar Burton, Gates McFadden, Dwight Schultz & Wil Wheaton. They were all very funny and interesting people and woul love to go again so I can hear them all ... I also took a photo with Tim Russ and I was lucky enough since i was the last person and rushed in at the last minute before he jetted off to his next mission...

As far as the audeince are concerned... Most of them were polite  and courteous but my advice is that most of the attendess are the main culprits of propogating the flase sterotypes that most of have to endure on a daily basis, fashion faux pas aside for the non costumed folks ... they also need to be introduced to a strict excercise and Diet regimen...nuff said! I will also share some of the few pics I took before the camera died...

Anyways for those who haven't been to a convention I think it's worth it .... and I value the photo Op's more than autographs... yet choose to go  just to hear your favorite chracters speak ...

I was not going to post this, but I can't help myself...and I'm old enough not to care.....
Hmmm ... All that observation for one day. Speaking for those of us that as you say "need a diet regimen". Get a life, at least we can spell. :p

Wow.  Umm.....well I guess some fans are not as....fit...as they need to be and we as ST enthusiasts are ridiculed in the media, but at least we have a place to gather to be away from the criticism we hear everyday.  Didn't think we needed to come to a message board to hear the same crap.

You're a bit on target Darth_Locutus if not a bit cruel.

The truth sure can hurt.  Too bad.  I have never seen so many scooters in my life.  I was really amazed at the number of obese people there.  They need to get off the couch, and watch Star Trek as they walk on a treadmill!  WOW!!!!  Going to the Star Trek convention gave me the extra push I needed to go forward with my weight loss plan (just 15 pounds - not 115).  My new diet motto is, "Just say no to scooters."

Hey.. wait a minute.. I didn't want to bash any one or hurt people's feelings... but this is simply my observation.. I only was there for the 1st day anyways... But people... Despite my motto... I would like Star Trek fans to Live long and Prosper...so hit a treadmill or take transit to work... just healthy advice... Think about all the people you squish during cramped flights...atleast for them..have a heart or get a bypass.. have some feelings...

Well my other issue is that in Vegas... they let people smoke indoors... in hotels ... it will get your sinus overworked...

Later pple

A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back
When does it end? This is a Star Trek forum.

I didn't care for the smoke either.  I don't smoke.  I don't drink.  Pretty square.  How did I end up in Vegas?  Oh yeah....  Star Trek.  Geek, healthy square.  :o)

Vegas was my first convention.  After talking to people there, and reading some of the message boards, I need to check out the smaller conventions.

I too was surprised at the ammount of scooters.  There is a fine line between helping and enabling.....not sure where that line is myself.
This was my first big convention, second overall.
Both were wonderful in their own way.  I hope to go to Veags for 3-4 days next year!!

Hey I went to the Vegas con too!! Yes there where large people and people in scooters. There where also very tall people and very short people and even green people (no kidding, there where green people!!!)There where also some very sexy gals and guys too!!!! (You should have been there Sat. for the costume contest!!;)
Being that I have been going to cons for about...well.... the last 20 years! (oops! showing my age again!:)) I sat down and people watched when I wasn't shopping or hanging out or watching the stars talk! The interesting thing at the convention is that most of the people there don't really care what size, shape, color or race you are! As long as you are a Trek fan that's good enough for them. I hadn't been the last two years and the people that I had met years before remembered me and welcomed me with open arms. It was a very joyfull weekend and myself, my husband and my son will be back next year!
Just my two cents!
