The French would surrender immediately, the Swiss would offer to look after the invaders' money, the Italians would wait to see who was winning before choosing sides, the Palestinians would claim it was an Israeli trick and bomb Tel Aviv, the Russians would be too drunk to fight and the Americans would show up when it was all over.
England, of course, would fight on alone. No change there.

I believe that we'd be SOL if they attacked depending on the weapons used.
I'm sure no aliens will attack us though.
They're probably explorers like us.

Ok by england i think you mean UK. Nothing more annoying when people say the UK is england.. Its not. Hell the two men who practically invented the worlds ELITE soldiers, werent even english, they were Scottish and Irish..

But yeah, i get the jist of your joke, its funny. Not starting any bad feelings..

I've heard something serious about an answer to this from Dr. Phil Plait.

If an alien culture wanted humanity out of the way, all they'd have to do is sling a few big asteroids toward Earth. Sure, it'd take some time before the planet is nice enough to live, but if these aliens aren't in a hurry, they'll get to enjoy the planet in a few thousand years.

If I were an alien species, and saw Earth as a feasible planet to exploit or inhabit, I would first capture humans and develop a biological weapon capable of wiping the entire race clear from the planet. I would also investigate if the planet had any biological dangers in it of itself.

I have a very hard time thinking that an alien species would be interested in the Earth due to the fact that they did not evolve on the planet and therefore the planet itself would only be useful as a means of resource extraction and there are several other planetoids in our system for such means. And if they could terraform the earth to suit their biological needs, they should be able to do so on other worlds as well, defeating the entire purpose. And I would think a species that has existed so far along to develop technologically advanced has some code of morality or conduct at work. All the very well possible, but the chances of a belligerent alien species with a keen eye on the Earth is very low unless I'm not thinking the way aliens should be.

Honestly aliens wouldnt attack us unless provoked simply because 1 we probably are worth it.
2nd its just our ego as a species saying that we are worthy fo aliens attention. the fact of the matter is it would be a scientific mission before a military one.
