Star Trek

Ok, First I hear that PVP is in in holodeck, I giggle and say that would be dume on their part, they would not do that! Now I read this and it turns out this guy is right! I mean come on, IM a big star trek fan, but im also a RPG gamer, and if you want more then just Star Trek fans to play this game then your gona need better PVP!

It cant be just on the holodeck, Now some games you have to change your duty status ( some might call it that) to be something that if others are you can PVP with them. Also there could be some star systems that once you enter its All PVP, witch at first wouldnt be good sense the only faction is Starfleet. But once more come out, Mockie, roumlans, kilingons eta they can all be attackble Npc ships and other player ships. Same on planets

Also Some has done good with guild wars, (clan wars what ever you want to call it! Now lets say we do that, and this is how it works, One guild has to declare war on the other, and visa versa. Now there attackble anywhere at anytime. Or in some area like starfleet HQ they wont be atttackle. Something like that, Space staions you cant be attacked. But when I first saw this game all I can see is me in warp, and boom  another ship starts attacking me, we drop out of warp and go into battle. It would be fin if a bunch of people got togther and said hey one of thhe guilds were waring is on a planet, set a course, prepare a landing party arm them with pahser riffle and lets go.

Now Once again im not trying to make a star trek war here, But as a Game things gota change a little. If you want more then the star trek guy to play this and people to say, wow hear that new game star trek online is alsome, Friends say WHAT? star trek, realy? Yea PVP and PVE (Player vs Envoriment, NPC's) are sopost to be amazing! Then hey more and more people are going to want to play this and this game will be big. It can be the next War of war craft or Everquest or Starwars galaxies eta.

Now im just throwing ideas out, keep in mind eatch clan/guild has to declare war for them to be attackble, so you can make a clan of just explorating or PVE with out beinh attacked.

I hope you agree with me on this and once again im not trying to make this a all killing game but that will add some more fun to it.

Im going to be on a plane for 4 hours so I cant respond right away but plz leave a comment and tell me what you think, Agree or not, Thank you!

This is Star Trek not Star PvP Trek.

The show had it's big epiced out battles between ships and what not but as it was mentioned in reviews PvP is not a big part of this game. Especially since we're all going to start as a federation cadet until further expansions come out. We cant have Federation ship VS Federation ship, that's totally not the STar Trek way.

Probably when other factions are playable we will see more PvP against crew member to crew member, ship to ship, but for right now that aint a part of the game design.

Yes PvP is fun, and if you cant just relax with a crew mate inside the holodeck for a little duel or what not, or big capture the flag type game then maybe you should play World of Warcraft.

I'm not trying to sound mean, but this is just how it was planned out for the time being. I like PvP too but in Star Trek I'm going to RP it out as the show and movies were meant to be, not worry about how many player ships and characters I can kill.

I know This isnt trek wars but if this game wants alot of people playing then we need good pvp. Its not like everyone is going to be attackble, but we need something. a good game does not need PvP surrounding it to have alot of subscribers, and if people dont like star trek chances are they arent going to play the MMO PvP involved or not.

Hell why pay good money for a game if you hate a franchise, or dislike it, or have no interest. Even if they dangled a carrot that is labled as PvP in front of the masses they could go play EVE Online for space PvP, and probably enjoy it more. Or play WoW, or Guild Wars.

PvP is not everything within a game, and I'm sorry but you sound like that's all you want out of it. As I said before, if you cant enjoy a good friendly PvP situation inside the holodeck then go play WoW or EVE. I mean seriously, if they ruin star trek with a pvp frenzied environment I wont play it and be rather annoyed with them turning Star Trek into a joke like that.

It won't be a all pvp game, and Im not saying that I like those games, IM just throwing out exsamples.

Also Guild wars is the best, If your not into the pvp and want to explore and do lots of mishions, Good for you i can wait to do that my self. But for those people who also enjoy combat they can create a guild and so can somone else and have a guild war, there will be some PvP and some PvE. But that shouldnt bother the people who dont care for a pvp fight and just want to make there ship better or do what ever you do. Other guild war fights wont do anything to people who are not waring them, if one ship explodes next to another one thats not fighting it wont do anything. To be honest im kinda looking forward, to the kinds of Pvp in the holodeck, dont get me worng, but I want to get a nice ship with a bunch of friends, i want to have npc fights but same with other players. Its differnt, Killing a computer is differnt from killing a real person behind it.


Im looking forward to this game, PVE and PVP and exploration custmizing my ship and the whole 9 yards. Just Ship to ship and on planet pvp also sounds amazing with the star trek touch.  Also I hope this is a friendly debate nothing personal or rude. Im just throwing my thoughts out there and want to hear from other people.

No, not personal, nor rude, I'm just saying for someone saying PvP aint everything to them you sure are sticking to your guns and jumping around about how cool it is to PvP.

I'm saying if PvP is all your after, and so far that's all you're seemingly suggesting and wanting, is that perhaps EVE Online is better suited for your wants. Star Trek is not about slaughtering people, it never was, the confrentations they had were ones against people trying to slaughter people senselessly, and that's all PvP usually turns out to be, is personal vendettas or egos saying, "Haha my ship is better then yours" or in other cases, "Haha, I'm better geared and skilled then you".

PvP is fine and dandy, but you make it sound like that's all you want.

And the people who dont want to pvp dosnt get hurt, atacked or anything, there not in anything. I am realy looking forward to the quests and mishions and upgrating and makeing your ship better and make or be a part of a nice guild and to do hard mishions that wel need a big group or a big crew on a couple ships but PvP also needs to be a option. Dude there are hundreds of thousands, if not more, fans to Star Trek world wide. If it were a small fan base STar Trek wouldnt have made it this far and wouldnt be at it's current 40 year mark with another movie coming out, let alone an MMORPG for it.

There will be plenty of people playing this game already, alot of people are excited to play and cant wait for it's release. Hell even my mom, who doesnt play many games at all, said playing an online STar Trek game would be fun and interesting.

Star Trek is also not about guilds. In a manner, you could say it's LIKE or SIMILAR to a guild, but it's not a guild. It's the crew of a starshrip wandering through space doing what they are doing, they arent a guild though. And wars between guilds isnt what I'm hoping to discover out there otherwise that's what'll make this game flop. Because more likely then not a good chunk of the subscribers are going to be Star Trek fans more then people who's never watched the show.

If I went out on the streets right now and asked people, lets say gamers in particular, if they liked Star Trek and they said, "Never watched it, dont like it, hate it, not interested in it" and then made mention of a MMORPG for the franchise they would probably just shrug at me and say, "Yay?"

"What's your guy's views on it??" you ask, I tell you my views. PvP isnt going to be a big part of it, the developers have already said so. And then you continuesly try to repeat yourself as to reasons why PvP should be huge and big instead of saying, "Well I guess I could see that, well what would make you happy then?" I said it once, I'll say it again. I do not want to see federation ship vs federation ship, that's not how it goes in the show, it better not be how it goes in this game. If it does I will be very very unhappy.

As I said, if you want freaking Space PvP and what not go play EVE Online. They got guilds that are huge and vast, ships that'll prolly tear things to shreds, and it's all on one big vast server.

Personally, I don't want non-holodeck PvP until the first expansion that adds an additional playable faction. (i.e. Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian). Space PvP included.

I think that there are plenty of games out there that allow PvP. If you are interested in that, please play EveOnline.

PvP in StarTrek should be rare and "controlled". I love the idea of starting it off on the holodeck. Should new races like the Klingons, Feregi or Romulans et al, be added then PvP would be more possible. However, Star Trek's nature is not blantant violence. One errant ship cannot blantantly attack another without serious diplomatic reprecussions.

Star Trek is about the storyline and about roleplaying. It is about exploring the unknown and unlike other space franchaises, creates an "optimistic" view point of the world of the future. Especially in the time of the STNG, many core worlds in the Federation are near utopias.

Star Trek also revolves around accomplishing "missions" which do not involve killing ten XYZ mobs to collect XYZ skins. Accomplishing missions offers new knowledge and opportunities which, in the case of the Federation, rarely involve violence.

ALso the fact that seeing a federation ship attacking an other makes you unhappy, then thats sad, Its a game, and also star trek is not real, its a TV SHOW! Now dont get me worng I love star trek, How everyone on on earth works togther, Drugs, all problems sickness all gone, searching for new life and helping and eta, What a great therory but you cant take it to the extreem, seeing two federation ships attacking each other in a video game shouldnt make you realy unhappy...  if so, then not much i can say about that. Im also hopeing theres some typ of duel option, that once one target is desoryed, they just come back and all dmg is back to normal. Why would I want that? Well one its fun and no one nor ship get hurt at the end and what good pratice for pvp or npc battels. Same for Ground combat as well. I agree with interstelic battels, Roumlans vs Fed, eta intell the Expanion comes out, but guild wars is a win win, WHo want lots of pvp, there you have it, you dont then ignore it.

I know meny people in that game that say they never seen a star wars movie and never want to. ALso that game is differnt from the movie a little, You can duel each other no matter what faction, rebel vs rebel, Empire vs Empire eta. SHots dont kill in one shot, One saber dont kill you its alot of sabers, same with wepons, if it was one shot kill then it would be hard, and I dought that one phaser set on kill is going to kill on this game eather.

My point is to this long story is that the game cant be just like the movie or show, it has to be differnt to attract players and make money! SO a little differnts wont kill!

STW FAILED because of the fact it changed so horribly and lost many players. OVER NIGHT even. I dont even want to play STW because of all the bad things I've heard about it.

The federation is made to make PEACE not WAR, let alone war against EACHOTHER. Dumbass, get a clue already. Nobody wants to PvP on this game, not so much, or not at the beginning anyways. It MAY get introduced later into the game, but for now it aint HAPPENING, no matter how much you whine how cool it is, or "how much better" it would make the game.

If it flops it's becaus Perpetual turned it into a joke, not because people cant fight eachother. Stop QQ-ing over it already. Jesus Christ Lord Almighty. For someone who doesnt want it to be entirely based on PvP you sure whine about it alot.
