Star Trek?

also How many do you think it would take to destroy the Enterprise D and what sort of power it would need?

Nukes don't carry anywhere the same destructive force in space as they do in an atmospheric environment, due to the lack of a resulting compression wave as the atmosphere is compressed as the explosion expands.

We have seen the Ent-D survive a very close explosion of a anti-matter warp core during the episode where Geordie and Ro are phase/cloaked. The Ent-D's shields are capable of absorbing a few gigawatts of energy without any trouble and much more than that for short periods of time.

If i had to hazard a guess i would say something like a 200megatonne yield weapon at extremely close range when the shields are up and something like a few megatonne when theyre down; but this is pure speculation and not scientific in the least.

Just one.

After all, it doesn't take much to destroy a large plastic model.

A couple of M80's will do the trick!

yes. A device called a pinch recreates the EMP discharge of the nuclear explosion however if the shields are up it my just absorb the discharge

Well we saw in the TOS series a single H Bomb was capable of disabling the enterprise after being detonated before striking the shields.

In in the TNG shields trend to be on the breaking point after fairly low level exposure to radiation, beam energy of 400 GW to even single TW are enought to collasp shields.

We know that Photon torpedoes are Matter antimatter explosive, and it been stated by Riker that standard safety procedure forbidden detonating them closer than 150KM.

Many calculation based on Tech manual have stated that explosion of photon torpedoe is no greater than 64 MT.

So a fairly close detonation of 1 to 10 megatons ( within 1 to 10 KM) would be enought to drop the shield while a second nukes ( MIRV and MARV warheads are common on Nuclear missile deployed by the super powers) would be sufficient to destory the enterprise.

Finally someone who gets it. Modern nuclear technology is more powerful than TNG photon torpedoes. We already have nukes with a heavier yield than 64 megatons.

It blew up point blank range from the Enterprise and they didn't have much damage from it.

If Kirk and Spock didn't realize what it was and veer away, it may have destroyed them.  As it was, it did alot of damage.

Not really.

Russia did have one that potentially could've met this. It was the Tsar Bomb, at about 50 megatons. If it was used in full form, though, it could've reached 100 megatons (the full form included depleted uranium. The Tsar used lead in its place).

Currently, the B83 is the most powerful nuke, but is only up to 1.2 megatons.

Actually EMP is completely useless if their systems are hardened or shielded against EMP. And its quite possible that if the vessel had a neutronium or other high density sheeting on the exterior  that EMP would have no effect.
