Wow, congrats. Believe me, if I didn't have some severe financial considerations, I'd be buying them all too and just enjoying it... but I'm on a super budget, so unfortunately I can't do nearly as much as I'd like, but oh well. Have a great time- I can't imagine you won't!

thanks taiperirococo

i figured it's my first convention so i will do it the best way i can with fanincial limits, i would never consider getting the gold tickets or captains, im a star trek fan but im not that interested in the lunches and dinner's and stuff im 30 something and im not that startruck impressed any more as when i was 50 or 20 i see celebs now as everybody else, they fart, they vomit, just like the rest of us, im doing this because of what star trek made me feel as a teen, i was pretty lonely as a teenager but star trek was there for me and i would be in a new world every time i was looking at tng and ds9 it gave me hope, so some people get tattoos i will get the autographs on a poster lol.

This is my sixth Vegas convention (and definatly my last as a gold patron).  The service charge on the tickets is a sore spot with many people.  It was actually brought up at a focus group meeting Creation held at the convention 2 years ago but they didn't seem to want to change their policy or put a cap on it.

Anyway my philosphy on Autograph tickets is to only buy online the ones I really want to get (this year that means Gates McFadden only).  The real advantage of getting tickets online is you will get a lower number and since they go by number you have to wait less time.  The other thing about having low numbers is that the Guests usually sign in groups so if you have ticket #50 for Gates and #300 for LeVar Burton and they are signing together you can get in line when Gates 50 is called and get both autographs at the same time.

They have started raising prices at the conventions but it has only been around $5 up until now.  I notice they are raising Shatner and Nimoy $10 so it would be cheaper to get them online.  They do occasionally sell out of some tickets on the first day so as I said if you really want someones autograph definitely get it online.  The lines are longest during pre-registration, morning of the first and second days but there are usually 2-3 people working the autograph ticket booth so they are pretty efficient.

Keep in mind that the longest lines are at the photograph table (not the Photo-OPs but the table where you buy pictures for the guests to sign).  It can, and has, taken me 45 minutes from getting in the line to purchasing the pictures.  They put Star Gate, BSG, buffy pictures up front and the pictures you need at the end of the table. Usually by Friday afternoon the lines here diminish and you can get through them pretty quick.

Anyways that is some of my experiences over the last few conventions.

How long are the lines for the photo ops, generally?  Do they call your number just like the autographs, or do you just wait in one long line in a room, like you're at Disneyland?

keithkittlesen:
hi and thank you so much for your important information, i can imagine your dilema as to the cost of tickets and im only doing the preferred tickets, it is a sore spot for me also, but im doing it because it's my first convention and my partners retirement so we are going all out for this trip, but i will never do a convention like this again, it's just to much money, doing another convention i will only do a 1 day pass and do the autographs that i need for the rest of the cast and most likely look for smaller conventions and get the signatures better there because they will be less expensive and have a little more time to chat with a star or at least tell them tank you in 30 seconds, because jonathan frakes will charge 50 at the hilton yet in sacramento will charge 35.

i think sonner or later there will be a backlash for creation just because they charge so much, today i recieved my seat tickets in the mail and the envelope for postage was around 50 cents and they are charging 7 dolars that is a slap and ripoff, but if fans put up with it they will queep doing it, there should be some sorta strike from the fans for 1 year of conventions and i bet they would lower their prices.

but like i said im doing this for my first convention & retirement and i doubt i will do another one this expensive, i love gates mcfaddens caracter she was so motherly lol even from tv lol, that is why im also spending some bucks because like you said get the ones that we want and im going for all the big ones from ds9, voy, tng because they will all be in vegas at once and i will not have to run from city to city to et one here and the other over there lol because then it would really be more expensive.

wow! is that how it works number by number, well my signature tickets should be comming in by monday or tuesday so hope i get low numbers so i dont do to much time on the lines, i decided to pass on the kirk and spock autographs, i sometimes see the original series here and there but just doesn't do it for me i do like spock more than kirk, never cared much for kirk or shatner, i just grew up with tng then ds9 and voyager and enterprise did not do it for me.

i will register a day before the con that way i am ready and done and not have to worry on the day of the event, i will search for posters here in my city but have not found any places to buy in san francisco,so if anybody knows let me know, i did try lightspeedfineart.com but they do not deliver to po boxes :(, so i will have to see them at the con if i dont find anything over here

someone here told me that they are not as time consuming as the autograph tables, but i dont know thats what they told me.

I have never actually gotten a photo op.  The Photo ops are done in the dealer room.  The guests have a scheduled time that they are there for the pictures.  I don't recall them posting up numbers just letting people know that they are going on.  Like the autographs they try to keep the lines moving as fast as possible.

The disadvantage of the photo op is that it's conducted in the dealer room.  With the autographs at least you can still watch what is going on on stage while you're waiting in line.

The Photo Ops are done on a first-come, first-serve basis.  The lines go quick, because it only takes a few seconds to take the shot generally.  It's usally about 15 seconds per Photo Op.  That is, from one picture taken to the next picture taken, and so on.

MCURIELD,

I'm coming from Honolulu, Hawaii.  I agree its unfortunate that it seems that Creation Entertainment is definitely 'for-profit' organization however I'm glad that theres someone out there that puts events like this on.  Coming from Hawaii, I already know I'm going to spend big bucks just to get there.  I just think positively and look forward to the experience.

Yeah these $7.00 charges really add up, maybe that is what Creation makes off of the event, in which case I can understand because Creation can't do the event for free.  I think it sucks that they don't include a free picture of the star that you purchase an autograph from...but that's just more ways for them to make money I guess.
