Has anyone ever been to Star Trek: The Experience?

I'm thinking about going and I'm wondering if it's as awesome as it looks on the advertisements?

I went in 2003 and thought it was a lot of fun. I'm sure the addition of the Borg 4-D movie adds much more to it. Try not to read reviews that explain the experience in detail- spoliers will ruin the fun of it. The only negatives I can say is the price is high ($35 I think) and there are no real props on display-all replicas. You can go back as many times as you want the day you purchased your tickets.

i went there this past September. It was awesome!!!!! There is a cool timeline display, actual props from shows and movies, the cool rides, the great food, the great shops, and awesom characters walking around in full costume. While we were waiting on line for the rides the Klingon amused us with some Klingon jokes...to quote him "there are 5"

as soon as I walked in, I had a geek-gasm

If you like Star Trek you HAVE to go.  The ride and the movie are so fun and they have a museum that you can walk around it and see old movie props and info!  You'll have a blast and be sure to get a mini warp core breech from Quarks!

I thought the whole thing was a bit of a let down after all the hype. The displays and props, I found, I had already seen at a Star Trek exhibition in Hyde Park in London.
The timeline and the rides are really geared up to fans that have only a passing intrest. Anyone more dedicated would be bored.
The actors in costume in the restaurant area were just scary! and the make-up wasn't that great. I could actually see where the prosthetics stopped on the Ferengi's face.
Paying out what I did for it I expected a hell of a lot more!

IMHO

I go every year. I love it!  If you have the chance, take the backstage tour. It is well worth it and lasts for about an hour and a half.

here's my post from the Voyager board about it:

I was just there this past September. It was incredible.....total geek-gasm

you walk in, and hanging from the ceiling are huge models of The Enterprise D, Voyager and others. The whole place looks like the promenade on DS9 and there are actors in full makeup walking around(Borg, Klingon, Andorian, Ferengi) and it is impossible to get them to break character. Off to one side on the way to the rides is a realy cool timeline display and actual props from movies and shows. The rides themselves were awesome. If you get motion sick easily be careful on the Klingon ride, it's awesome but bumpy. The Borg ride is realy cool and has a segment with live action. The rides come out into corridors that look just like the ones on DS9 and come out into the shops which have the coolest stuff. Then it's time for dinner. The food there is realy good and not even that expensive. Make sure you get a drink there. We got a drink that comes in this huge round bowl and had smoke comming out. Here's a funny story: I was trying to take a picture of it with my phone and I hear from behind me a deep voice saying "You are taking an image of that drink, you have no honor" I turned around and there is a 7 foot tall guy in full Klingon make up. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!

While we were online for one of the rides the Klingon comes up to the front of the line and grabs the mike and tells us some Klingon jokes "there are 5 of them"

You can also get photos taken on the Enterprise Bridge, and in a Borg alcove. I also realy realy realy recommend going on the behind the scenes tour. They take you around and give you cool behind the scenes info about the rides and stuff. And you get a cool certificate at the end.

MOST FUN EVER

hope that helps you!

Good grief.

Incidentally, the drink you ordered was called a "warp core breach".  Just in case you wanted to know. :)

Warp core breaches are genuinely nice cocktails (and very potent! )

We had a great time at ST: The Experience - the atmosphere, the Klingon Encounter - the museum, Quarks, the actors and the shopping were all brilliant fun. I even gave oomax to a Ferengi (though I probably shouldn't brag about that).

The only thing that has made me slightly less enthused is the fact that I was watching the extras on my VOY s1 DVDs, and they have a featurette about the Experience on there. It used to look amazing - a proper replica of the Promenade on DS9. However, when we went, it seemed to be a LOT smaller... as I remember, I don't think you could look down from the upper level, it seemed just to be on one floor. It looked better before....

:D

I guess I was just expecting a lot more... I remember the peliminary artists sketches of what it was supposed to look like... and it looked like StarFleet Command Headquarters (this was back before DS9 was born) with huge screens showing ships of the line "in action" overhanging the "lobby" over at least 2 levels. It looked amazing!!
Then DS9 was born and "StarFleet Headquarters" became "DS9 promenade" in the complete and acurate reproduction of the set... or so it was meant to be.
What actually occured was... disappointing.

If they can recreate the bridge of the Enterprise D to the inch for the Klingon ride, surely they could have built an accurate promenade!

Like I said, maybe I was jaded because I wasn't having that good a time at the convention.
:sarcastic:

I will be heading to Vegas in late August (college exams prevent me from attending the convention).  I plan to visit The Experience, and was wondering if they allow cameras/pictures?

I haven't seen any fan taken pictures of the museum area or anyone in The Experience.  Seems like a pretty shoddy deal if you have to pay $40 and you can't even take visual memories home with you.
