| Quote | because no company would want to spend ¿the money on something that may or may not bring in revenue. its cool yeah. but think of the costs to make a mock up, and then think how many people would come to visit it on a regular basis. the fees you would need to charge to cover the costs would be immense. Does paramount even have a theme park that they could put this at? Maybe if they had an equivalent to Disney World it could be ¿a feasible attraction, but something like this wouldn't be able to stand on its own. Its less of a logistical thing and more of a business thing. To legitimize it to some corporate suits they have to have a healthy profit margin.

All of these are true, Kenny keep your faith and hope, you ahve it in the correct place. What building this full scale mock up would do is to give people a first hand look at what the Enterprise would actually be like, what it would actually be like to be on a real starship. The ship wouldnt be a total loss, the crew quarters could be rented out to REAL STAR TREK and space exploration fans. It would also be used as 'mecca' of sorts, where pilgrimages by loyal fans and causual on-lookers would take place. It could even become a wonder of the world, showing the possibility of what humanity could and will achieve in the future. I am quite sure that the mock up would not go to waste. Very good idea Kenny. Grand Lunar go spin a web around yourself.

Dryson, quit being a sore loser.
I offered ways to make your design better and simpler. It has potential. It just needs a couple of changes.

I would absolutely love to go to a 'real' fake Enterprise. How cool would that be? Very. And it would make soo much money, it'd be ridiculous. Someone really should do something like that. It'd also be yet another way to keep Star Trek alive forever, although with us being fans and all, it already is, but still...

You know something Grand Lunar, If you werent so short i'd drop kick in the octogan but i dont pick on short people.
Anyway the Pilyhas-1 is a real starship. Just because you didnt concieve it doesnt mean you have to be sour at me, gheesh and ghosh.
Any way until you can come up with a fully functional starship that can be used for many single specific missions in space, go dematerialize or something.

Dryson, you're the one that has been sour.
Both myself and another poster found flaws in the design. I base the flaws on what I know of real spacecraft.
Your main flaw was not having enough fuel.
Incidently, the British Interplanetary Society and othere have come up with designs for function starships.
None are like yours, however, because yours isn't really a starship. It's an interplanetary craft.

It could be fun building the Enteprise D as a theme park. It would certainly be a big tourist attraction.
Simulation games could also be available to tourists for a limited time...groups could man bridge stations and defend the Enterprise during a crisis, for example.
Profits would be extremely good...if only I had the money...

| Quote (number1snumber1lover @ April 18 2007, 10:46 am) | | I would like to see it, yes, but not on land. It is not logical (no I'm not a Vulcan! ) it would make a lot more sense for it to be done in spacedock/station or whatever. How much fuel would you waste just trying to make it lift off? And you'd have to add largely unneccesary parts to make it do that. |
Plus it couldn't suport it's own weight in a 1G enviroment, it would have to be built in orbit
