I'm new to the boards and also new to reading Star Trek novels.

At the moment I'm half-way through Star Trek 'The Lost Years' and have recently finished 'Federation'!

I'm rereading The Wounded Sky by Diane Duane. I first read this one 15 years ago, and frankly, I hink this might be the best Trek book ever written. This book gets really gets you thinking about the nature of the universe.

Not sure if this really counts, but I just started working with the Klingon Dictionary - got some extra time on my hands so I thought I would try it again after many years

Other than that, I read the Star Trek crossover comics that are coming out (with a new ish due tomorrow!!)  I also recommend the 100 page Spectaculars (or whatever they are called)

I just finished Star Trek Vanguard: Declassified.  I was a bit confused by the ending of The Ruins of Noble Men.  But I loved all of the stories in the book.  I can't wait to finish out the Vanguard series.  This has been a very enjoyable set of books.

My next Star Trek book is going to be A Time To Be Born.  I'm trying to catch up on all of the background books before I get into the Destiny and Typhon Pact series.  It annoys me a little to find out that I'm missing part of the back story to a book.  I had stopped reading some of the Star Wars books because of this.

You can save some time and just check out Memory Beta.  There are a lot of books to read before Destiny.
