With the end of the Dominion War in 2375, the United Federation of Planets, Klingons and Romulans all suffered heavy losses, but the Cardassian Empire was left in shambles with billions dead and their fleet almost non-existant.

A Cardassian/Federation peace treaty in 2377 granted the Federation several key systems, including the Trivas System, which housed the abandoned Empok Nor station. The Federation woudl have rights to explore this and other systems previously unavailable to Starfleet. In exchange, the Federation would offer support to the rebuilding Cardassian government.

As the Alpha Quadrant races to rebuild the political landscape, former enemies are now allies. The question of trust is paramount.

Captain Alexander Rexan and his crew have been charged with re-establishing the trading systems of the area and to assist the Cardassians, even defend them against vengeful races such as the Lorta, who blame the Cardassians for years of persecution.
