I think that it is a slightly above average game. It has fairly complex controls, and plays a little like "Asteroids". The worst part of the game is the targeting slice. To lock on you must keep the slice active, requiring you to hold the right stick in the direction of the target, hold R2, and press R1 to fire. Another stupid feature is playing the series backwards. First is ENT, then VOY, DS9, TNG, and finally TOS. 6/10

I can make no review for it since i have yet to play it, but i must say i am surprised they limited it only to ps2 and excluded the gamecube and xbox

What is your opinion on the targeting slice and the reversed timeline?

Encounters? I started with ENT, and that certainly wasn't the first series to air.

I was not the first series to air but it was the first series in the star trek timeline because it is set before captian kirk.

I was talking to the GM at my local EB and he told me that it's essentially a very dumbed down ST:Legacy. Since I don't own a PS2, I can't say for sure. He basically told me that it's so dumbed down that it's not worth getting. I am, however, curious enough that I would buy it and play it, if I owned a PS2. Maybe when I get around to getting one, I'll pick it up.

You don't have to hold R2. Tapping it once is good enough.

Um, what? It goes ENT, TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and Sovereign.

I wonder how he could even have a clue considering that there isn't even a demo for Legacy (which means he couldn't have played it yet, unless he was one of the lucky Betas), and all the videos available for Legacy don't show anything in common with Encounters...

And considering that he said it's not worth getting just goes to show that he doesn't know what he's talking about.

I purchased the game for less than $15.00. I have to say I like it better than " Star trek Voyager Elite Force".

got it the other day, its not that bad, ok so its prolly not as good as the up and coming pc and xbox titles for obvious reasons.........its on the ps2 and the graphics arnt nearly as up to scratch as they are on the pc and xbox but that taken into consideration id have to say its ok when u've got used to the controls and how it works, althought mission 2 the xindi warp trail kept me busy for longer than i would of liked till worked out how to follow the thing, *incase anyone sees this and gets stuck then, - move your targeting slice in a constant 360 degrees while moving in the general direction the last one was pointing to at full speed you should come to the next trail pretty quick, and just keep following the green lines till ya reach ya objective........easy when ya know how lol :-)* (took me agessssss to work out so thought id relieve the stress for everyone else lol) nnnnnnnn e way, its ok the targeting slice feature is a new one on me though seeing how im used to games like star trek starfleet command which is basically the same sort of game but for the pc and it doesnt have a targeting slice but it does have phaser arcs and places it cant fire just the same. but yeah i aint far nuff into the game to give an acurate review as it is now id give it a 5 outta 10 but im only on the enterprise refit missions atm i on that one in the blue nebula where the crew oh the enterprise are on that vorcha class klingon ship and ya gotta rondavue with the enterprise then nuither one tht starts with and 'r' cept i get blown to smeg by time i get to that one or get discovered aint paitient enuff perhapse but yeah do have one question i would love to know the answer to....................anyone far enuff into it to know if the borg are in this game yet? id rate it a 10/10 if they were  just cuz there like me fav race lol but yeah alll good, its a fairly good game anyway so take it easy everyone,
gunna get back to playin it again now lol, l8r
