For it's time BC was a great game. Its fun to "feel" what it's like to sit in the center chair. You command Galaxy and Soverign class vessels in the game. Single player camp. is pretty good. And you have to use the members of your crew in different ways to win a fight.
I loved it and still play it from time to time!

Bridge Commander rocked, in my humble opinion, until you ran into those pieces of bak'tagh who decided to cheat in the game, and were firing 20 quantum torpedoes, or other such crap.
I ran into such a pa'tahk several years ago. He brought in an Akira class battle cruiser, and fired (no joke) 20 quantum torpedoes at me in a single barrage (I think the Akira could only fire 4 at a time). When I called him on his cheating, he says: "I could beat you using a shuttle craft. STFU!"
I said: "Sure, I bet if you were cheating like you were just now."
What punks.

Bridge commander is a great game that still holds up today...the mods gives it second life. Some of the great mods include Star Wars, Babalon 5, Futurama, and many other sci-fi ships...against star trek ships.....new missions and great star trek stuff not included in the original game...like the borg cube and ds9......its my all time favorite game....

Buy Bridge Commander.
Then proceed to www.bcfiles.com. Heck, go there now. Check out all the awesome mods that not only up the graphic quality of EVERYTHING in the game, but totally breathe new life into it.
The modders have done more with BC then any developer would ever think of. It's a good game at first... play through it, then download the Kobayashi Maru mod and play through it again. It's fantastic.

I would have enjoyed BC more if you could actually be in command. Your crew told you what to do. Why couldn't they have put more command choices in there for you like there was in Judgement Rites, 25th Anniversary, and A Final Unity. But nope there were only two times that you get to make a desicion without the NPCs telling you what to do. I think because of that it made the game boring and just a pure ship to ship fight game. While the battles were fun, I think being able to attempt to talk yourself out of a battle situation like you could in A Final Unity, or even talk your way into a battle.
Actually now that I think about it, I don't think I ever engaged in any form of major combat in A Final Unity. I wish I still have my old 486 so I can play that game again, truly truly one of the best ST games ever made. Of course Judgment Rites and the 25th Anniversary were also excellent games. We need more ST games like those than what they are putting out.
I give it 3.5 out of 5 because your crew tells you as captain what to do instead of you telling them what to do.
