There is no excuse for service that poor, even if it is only one isolated incident.

Yes there is. Servers are people not machines mistakes will occur.

Of course mistakes happen, that is not my argument. But when they happen, people should apologize and make proper amends.  Especially when running a business.

That did not happen in this case, and there is no excuse for that.

I have to disagree. I was not present so I don't know all the facts but as a Bartender The Customer is not always correct. I have tossed people out physically because of differences in perception of service.

I worked at an upscale sportsbar that had a full menu ranging from chicken appetizers, wings, steaks, salads, deserts, and everything else in between.  We averaged about 500 orders a day (11:00 am-2:00 am) and we were always busy, barely had time for a restroom break, much less a smoke break which was basically non-existent.  Not once did we get a complaint like yours.  We had one or two chefs at all times and the rest of us were prep people who did the non-critical items (wings, fries, deserts, salads, .etc).  Even though we weren't paid outrageous wages (the chefs got $10 an hour and we got $7.50 an hour), we all did our best to do the job right the first time.

It was a new place too and some of us never did that kind of work before or at least that kind of volumn and quality but we persevered and got the job done.  I would go home every night very tired but knew I did a good job and so would the others.  When I got a day off, trust me, I rested, I didn't go out screwing around.  I would start the day at 9:00 am and not get off 'till about 7 or 8 pm.

Anyway what I'm trying to say is, Quarks probably doesn't have "quality" people working there because there is a high turnover in the restaurant business and most restaurants can't get the people they want and are forced to deal with the warm bodies they have to fill the slots.

I'm working pizza delivery now and the cooks there are just terrible.  Most are stoned, yes I said stoned, when they're working and don't have a problem talking about doing drugs.  They've been caught smoking pot on breaks outside the store in the back.  The management and owners know this but they're forced to keep them or shut down.

Assuming their story is correct, then there is no excuse.  Like others on this thread who have worked in the food industry have said, the management should have tried to make it right.

Thank you.  I am attempting to find out from Cedar Fair who I need to talk to, and I will update this thread if / when anything comes out of this.

Kathy

P.S. You can assume our story is correct.  There hasn't been any embelishments or exagerating on our part.  There were 6 very different people there ranging from someone very bold that usually has a sense of entitlement to a very reserved person who would never speak up no matter how they were treated.  We all precieved the situation the same way.  Most of us work or have worked in the service industry and are very familiar with this type of work enviroment (2 of us work for Disney) and took what was and wasn't controllable into account.  You can take our story to the bank.

Thanks to everyone for the links.  I was able to get an inquiry email from the General Manager of Paramount Parks, and I emailed her a VERY detailed account of our experience.  She seems concerned and we are still in communication (Josh is trying to get me the receipt from that day because she would like documentation).  I will update when I know anything more.

So the General Manager emailed me back today, and she is going to send me a check for a full refund of our bill that day, and assured me that the employees involved were appropriatley counseled.  I don't know how sure of that I can be (considering I think appropriate would mean they should be fired and then drowned =), but I don't doubt her sincerity and she gets an A+ for effort.

Although it was a little late, Quarks, by way of upper management, finally got it right.  Somewhat happy ending.  Will we go back?  I'll keep y'all posted.
