Been checking the forums daily for many weeks but I haven't seen any updates.

Have I missed something ?

recently there has been 5 new concept arts, an interview with tentonhammer, dev blog soon hopefully. game's still a year from beta, they probs dont wanna be releasing an update every other week at this stage when designs can change so much. It'll only lead to inevitable crying on here when it changes again later on, they've probably learned their lesson.

'Isn't it about time for an update ?'

It definately is. Concept art? Woopidoo. A couple hand drawn black and white pictures which may or may not even make it to the game are released every now and then to keep the community quiet. Well it aint working for much longer! lol. I was expecting a little more from the updated faq. It would be good to know what ideas are bashing around their heads so we could comment on them.

Here is a list of updates we all would like to see.

1. How goes the new website
2. More deck info for the Galaxy class, deck 7 is done but what about the rest?
3. What races will make the cut
4. New NEWS period.

I like everyone else understand you guys are busy, but how about just dropping in every 2 weeks, is that so much to ask right now? Even if you drop hints to what your thinking about, is better than no news at all. You can even test an idea here on the boards, see what everyone thinks, then tweek it to make it work out for all.

But come now PE DEV Team, toss us a bone or two every once and awhile.  ;)

Just watch the news sites, sometimes the little bits of news don't get posted here, certainly it has been stated 'no news means we're working harder on the game', but a CM would be nice...
I did just finish updated the dev tracker on the wiki, however, not much new information there for some time, hopefully the community site will go live eventually.

The game used to be in pre-production.  On the Perpetual website it now says In Development.  That's what Gods and Heroes are in so maybe we will be getting an update soon.  I hope we do.

There really is not anything to show at the moment.
Maybe a screenshot of the code, but lets be honest, that would be boring.

One thing that could be interesting would be a monthly article on each step in creating a game, how its done, why its needed, etc etc.  Be interesting to hear and see.

People are just stupid really. If PE update us every week at a stage of production where anything can change from week to week, I can imagine the #####ing that would take place here especially about it, it'd be a worse nightmare of complaining than it is now. Be patient, we've had more plenty from them in the past, that's the problem... we're spoiled and now they're winding back a bit and getting on with the actual development everyon is thrown a tantrum.

Yeah, this is the quiet before the storm, guys. I imagine the next major update will be official forums on the site, and a dedicated CM who will welcome all of us, and then go into hibernation for a while.

We are a year and a half from beta, if we're lucky. Just be patient.

A year and a half? Where are you guys getting this? Beta can be expected at the begining of next year. Though im not saying your wrong, doubtful it will be a year and half before beta, that would be early 08.

Anyways back to OP.

Well they did just update their FAQ which explained some info, but not a ton. I hope the next thing will be forums and a CM which im guessing is the community rep. What I do hope they do, though its doubtful, is that they can transfer info from this website to theirs, like our post-count lol. Again, thats unlikely but it would be something new. Im really hoping the devs of STO decide to do out-of-the-box stuff in this game.

Well, STOCaptain, Daron did state in a recent interview with STGU/HF that an initial estimate for when to expect Beta is Summer 2007 at the Earliest, and well, have you ever known a game to reach beta on the date of the first estimate for it? It could very well be a year and a half from now before we see Beta.

I can tell you now though, sadly that because this forum software is old, outdated and useless, that unless PE use the same software for their forums, they won't be able to transfer anything across, so they'll probably just get their own on the go and everyone will have to race up the ladder once again.

tbh, I don't see official forums coming along for a while, possibly Nov/Dec sometime. Patience is a virtue!

Ah, thankyou for correcting me then hehe.

About forums, we have been asking for them for a while now, and when the official website went up everyone thought the forums would come up shortly there after, but if i remember right, its been around half a year.

Why do they need the same software? All they have to do is get all the account info, Username, post-count, etc... which would be provided by the website. Im not talking about all the posts though. Again, its very doubtful but I think its still possible.

it's not as easy as just getting account info and so on, really. They would need database access, compatible databases and so on, unless you are expecting them to manually create post counts based on posts that dont exist on their own forums when they arise etc, which I don't ever see happening either. Since this software is about 4 or 5 years old, it's doubtful any new software would allow cross compatibility for importing that information.

I don't think it's about us asking for forums or not tbh, but about them timing it right, for them. We're probably 0.1% or less of the userbase that will eventually populate the forums, the cold hard truth is that what 10 or 15 regulars here want just isnt that important. They throw us a bone every now and then, which is really all they need to do. People say its not enough, say they will leave, cal the devs all sorts of names but they keep coming back. *shrugs*

But I agree with everyone in that it's been over what, 3-4 months since we had a development blog or update, that would be nice around about now.

I am by no means an expert on building a MMO but lets think about something here.  They are in the middle of building the core part of the game.  Yes I want to see more and hear from the more but it just isnt going to happen anytime soon.  Most of the MMOs out there now, has someone hired to speak on these boards that is not actually a developer.  They are a go between sort of speaking. Also they have to get everything approved before they can show it to us or say it to us.

Keep up the great work DEV team.  We are cheering for you all.
