Although I see myself getting really involved in the missions, I really want something else to do from time to time, and something to aim for. I'm not talking about getting involved in an economy or being able to rp since it doesnt hold much interest with me.
This idea is in ralation to Admirals
I think that you should have some real power when you reach the rank of admiral, since I imagine theres going to be very few playable admiral positions about. Perhaps if you make admiral, you'd be given or choose a part of space that you're basically in charge of, or is your responsibility to make sure everything is as it should be. You could be put in overall command of ships (even player controlled ships) that are based in your sector of space. Lets say that there have been reports of smuggling in your sector, (in normal space/not instanced) you could then hand out orders to captains in the area to go and investigate, and depending on how the problem is resolved, you the admiral could reward the captain/crews who performed well. So basically the more 'trouble free' you keep your sectors of space, the greater starfleet command will reward you. This could mean gaining more direct control over larger parts of space, or if you're doing badly, starfleet could remove your authority over certain areas. I think that would be a great feature of STO in my opinion. Knowing that you could actually have some real influence and responsibility in the game would be a really appealing goal for many players.
The Starfleet database
The Starfleet database was used in many episodes to research races, cultures, spacial anomaly. If we oursleves could add to this database then the amount of information it held would never end. We could fill out mission reports and save them in the database for everyone to read. They could apply to tactical situations, intelligence reports, mission reports and even engineering reports you could read to help get the most out of your engines for example. Of course adding to the database should be voluntary but you should be rewarded in some way for doing so. This database would be a great help if you ever got stuck on a mission.
Anway, theres just a couple ideas to help make the game more diverse and simular to what we saw on the screen. Any ideas?

I certainly agree with all of your points. In relation to the admiral's responsibility of keeping sectors 'safe', I love the idea of it being in non-instanced. Many games are moving towards total instancing of missions. There needs to be a bridge, that connections the 'real world' to the instanced world. By doing so, players will still have the action packed missions in the instanced areas, but also missions where you directly affect how safe it is to travel for other players and such in the non-instanced areas. The database, yet another wonderful idea. For safety, any additions to the database should first be put througha vetting process, so we do not get advertisements for sex sites when researching Human History
