This part has me worried: Players will have the choice to go it alone, group with other ships, or form a crew to maximize the combat power of any single ship. And at higher levels, Admirals will have the ability to form armadas that can be a combination of crewed capital ships and escort ships to tackle high level missions. Now if it's getting setup like that, can you imagine how hard those missions will be? I can see solo guys trying to sneak into the action, then POW they get vaporized.

Community complainers take note.. | Quote | Star Trek is a powerful license and it's not hard to imagine why it will make for a very exciting MMO. So though we have a lot of great material to show, we're moving cautiously because we know there is plenty of time to generate a high level of awareness. We really enjoy having a dedicated fan community to discuss our ideas with, and while it's really tempting to feed our ego by showing great images, we don't want to make the mistake of growing the community to a size that's beyond our capability to support this early in development. Keeping a low profile while supporting an "inner circle" fan community for such a highly anticipated product is a tricky balancing act, but we're confident that we have time to get our message out to the gaming public and when we're ready to do so, we'll come out swinging.

It doesn't sound that much different than most other MMOs. The most rewarding, high level content requires several groups of players to form a big raid, while other stuff can still be done solo or in smaller groups/crews

Good question. I would imagine, if you are a member of Star Fleet, uniforms will be pretty straightforward and not much room for modification. Maybe in the form of belts or service decorations..something of that nature?

It was stated somewhere before that as you gain rank, your uniform will be modified slightly according to the rank and profession, to try and make them more recognizable. Personal shields will also be available on the uniforms, and maybe they will have different types you can use. Maybe they will allow things like medals. Big thing was they didn't want an Ensign looking like a Commander and when viewed at a distance the only way to know who they were until you were up close to see the pips on the uniform or name.

I have never had a problem with this. Some missions should require grouping to gain the very highest rewards in the game. I don't have a problem with people who play solo, but I think that they are missing out on some good, fun experiances. Playing in groups is the main reason that I enjoy playing MMO's.

Should be out around the 13th. The screenshots are fairly unimpressive, granted its a quick demo, but there's some nasty lighting in some places. -------------- Jaz Contribute on the STOwiki!Star Trek Gaming Universe - STGU

Everytime I get in a group mission of more than 6 people, it turns out in a bad way. In STO we are not only talking about one team of players, but groups of ships with 100s of players on them maybe. At least we will have the bridge crews for the ships, but can you see the horror of this happening. If you get a large fleet of ships together for a mission, you can have Wolf 359 all over again.

The thing that worries me is that it sounds as if all we will be doing is getting our own personal ships, getting missions from a Galaxy Hub, grouping up with others ships, rinse, repeat. Whatever happened to living on a large ship where the crew is involved in missions and if a player wants to do one without the hsip then he can get a mission on the ship or get a shuttle to a space station to use his own little ship to do missions.
