Greetings all, My very first post. I wish it was one of excitement. I recently found an announcement by Perpetual Entertainment that says that the other game they are developing (Gods and Heros:Rome Rising) is going to to be copublished with a SOE sub company. As a former player of SWG:Galaxies and having watched SOE kill that title and licence over the last two (mostly the last year) years, the last thing I want or need to see is ANY involvement with SOE (in ANY form), be it development, running the game, copublishing, Customer Service (SOE's CS is the ABSOLUTE worst! , etc. Here is the link to the announcement by Perpetual Entertainment: http://www.perpetual.com/pages/news.htmlI'm going to start by trying to send an e-mail to the developers of STO protesting any plans to include SOE in it's development, etc. Does anyone know who to contact with Paramount about this? Perhaps the StarTrek.com site? If any other of you folks played SWG, I'm sure you know why I am so concerned /salute Kept Wandering Former "pay to play" SWG beta tester. Bria Galaxy, New Solah, Naboo The DeathStar destroyed a planet....SOE destroyed Galaxies....

SOE has left hundreds of thousands of players with a bad taste in their mouth. PE cant possibly be so dumb as to jump into bed with them without knowing of SOE's awful reputation.
Im not too keen on some of the features (levels, quests, only one faction) of STO but I still plan on giving it a shot. However, if SOE is involved in any way whatsoever I wont touch it.

They are doing Gods and Heroes Marketing and Distribution.. That's all, they have no hand in development, production, billing or customer support. There is a similar deal to ToonTown which is totally independent. -------------- Jaz Contribute on the STOwiki!Star Trek Gaming Universe - STGU

I really, really hope that is the case, but then i think of Matrix Online and PlanetSide and SWG.........I am NOT happy with ANY involvement with SOE by Perpetual when it comes to STO. Kept "The DeathStar destroyed a planet....SOE destroyed Galaxies..."

News about "SOE's New title....in Partnership with Perpertual Entertainment". http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/godsheroes/news.html?sid=6145371Read the article, watch the video, then...be afraid......be very afraid. I really hope Paramount puts the Kabosh on any inkling of PE considering this with STO. SOE: "We are the Borg...Resistance is futile."

I'm so very excited about this game, I can't wait to play it and hope i am blessed with a chance to be a beta tester so i can do my small part to help make it great , that being said and if anyone of any importance reads this whatsoever lol :)PLEASE don't let SOE have anything to do with this game they are downright immoral and unethical and while the lure of the all mighty dollar might seem to lie with them atm (this is after all all that they concern themselves without any regard for their subscribers after all) there will be many that will not buy anything with an SOE anything on the box it won't matter if wether they have dev control or not, the mass customer population that has read and seen the bad media on SOE isn't going to be aware of this and will most likely be the negative deciding factor on whether or not the informed mmorpgamer decides to even purchase the game.

Exactly. The list of possible publishers for MMOs that I know of is pretty short. Vivendi and SoE - there it ends. None of the games SoE published and did not develop had any influence on the game itself, so there is no reason to fear this. Unless you like being paranoid, then it's ok

I, as well as anyone who played Galaxies, like to bash SOE and to be truthful they sure didnt help themselves. There was virtually no development team/player correspondence and a near total lack of content injected during the 18months i played it. Though one thing alot of players either ignored or didnt realise was that Lucas Arts were pulling alot of the strings at least since May '05 when the CU hit. Many think the NGE was LA's decision, not SOE. Just my two cents...

I have to agree with others, stop being so scared. They are only marketing the game, not making it. Oh and I think its a well-known fact that LA made the decision for the NGE, which could have gone a little better, it wasnt even an FPS lol.

SoE, Vivendi, Microsoft, EA, NCSoft. Microsoft had AC, is publishing Vanguard, and dropped two(?) other mmogs before that, probably publish Marvel online as well. Vivendi only has WoW far as I know. EA has UO, Sims Online, and dumped E&B and Motorcity online. NCSoft probably wouldn't have been a bad alternative to use. They're riding a good wave from City of heroes, Lineage 2, City of Villians, Guildwars. They have Auto Assault and Tabula Rasa coming soon. Anyways, there's no doubt SoE has a bad rep from all the years of mistreating their customers and games. Maybe if they don't plaster their name big and bold on GnH people won't notice and buy it anyways lol. BTW guys, lets stop with the scare mongering huh. No, STO is not being cancelled because CBS took over. No, STO is not being cancelled because Bethesda got Star Trek rights too. And No, SoE will not co-develop GnH or STO, just signed to market and publish GnH, that is all.
