I know I am not going to wait for it to come to the stores, I will be one of the 1st to pre-order once they offer it.

So what will you do, wait until it hits the stores, or pre-order the game online?

I will absolutely pre-order it, and do my best to get a chance in beta.

Star Trek is my favorite SF franchise, and I am an avid MMO player. The combination of these two interests is something I have dreamed about for years!

Ill only think of pre-ordering it when i know roughly how the final game will end up, but ill definitely be trying to get into the beta.

I made the mistake of not pre-ordering a few games in the past, and when I went looking for them all i found was sold out. :laugh:

Talk about kicking myself in the butt that day, but after the 5th store I visited, I found one copy left on the self. :laugh:

I usually preorder my games with the store, there's a mall with an EB games just a couple blocks away from my home

only need to drop down $5 per game too. Whether or not STO gets my preorder however, will depend on my beta experience or word of mouth, WoW word of mouth and stress beta sold me into preordering, wish I had went with the collectors edition

I agree.

I'd add, that by the time the game goes live; it may be offered as a down load, no going to the store needed.

I'm going to be one of the first pre-ordering it and first to sign up for Beta Testing. I can't wait to try this game out!

Considering everyone here is reading about a game that is well over a year away, I imagine most would pre-order it.

This has come up before and I will give the same answer I always give. If they give me some in game item to appeal to my vanity for pre-ordering then I will do so. I don't want a fancy box, and I don't care about booklets of concept art. If there is some little in game perk to pre-ordering I will likley do it. I pre-ordered every SWG expansion pack because of pre-order perks. Otherwise not a chance.

The same goes for limited edition versions of the game. If I don't get something in game for my extra money I will not spend it. I bought the SWG limited edition because they gave goggles. I bought the limited edition of EQ2 because of the decorations and the pet dragon. I didn't get the CoH limited edition because it had nothing of any worth for an in game perk.

In terms of the value of pre-ordering to ensure you get a copy of the game. Well never in my life have I went out to buy a game on release and not been able to find it. I suppose that is a matter of where you live. If you only have one or a small handful of locations in which you can buy your games then I suppose the fear of selling out before you get there is possible. But in my experience there has always been a another place to go and try.

Oddly enough pre-ordering to ensure I had the game on launch day has tended to have the opposite effect. In the cases where I have pre-ordered MMOs, I did so online. The problem with online pre-orders is that you actually end up getting the game a day or two after launch because they don't ship the game until its launch date or at best the day before. So I'm not a fan of online pre-ordering unless they do digital download.

If this game still looks as promising as it does now, for certain I'mm be pre-ordering.
