I would name mine after the roman term for purgatory/limbo.

USS Ilysium (purgatory)

or the

USS Elysian (one in purgatory)

honestly it doesnt matter to me. its really only an aesthetic thing.

but I would like a realistic factor. Like Sisko im sure wouldnt choose Sao Paolo. So i would think that naming the ship wouldnt be his choice. so realistically it shouldnt be ours. however as ive also stated. He had permission to change the name after an admiral did gave permission.

I've been eagerly anticipating the upcoming release of flyinglab's pirates of the burning sea so some guildies and i have been brainstorming ship names.

Blackbeards ship was The Queen Anne's Revenge

I saw a history channel documentary a few weeks ago about ghosts ships. The Flying Dutchman is a pretty famous eigthteenth century ghost ship that is still reportedly being sighted of the coast of Africa.

My A-Wing in swg was call the AoF (my guild) Dolphin Flogger (my character was a mon calamari so most of his ships had a fish theme.. my Y-Wings were  the SpaceShark and the SpaceShark II... and my multi passenger rebel battle ship was the AoF Shining.

star trek ship names just of the top of my head

USS Redemer
USS Solitude
USS Shackleton
USS Crazy Horse... this one has of course already been done... but i still love the name
USS Berman... okay maybe not :)

Yeah, I've dealt with many stupid names in many MMORPG's, and I would and am hoping, that the Star Trek Community is more mature then those of other MMORPGS's.  I've used 1 name for my ships in Star Trek Fleet Command 3 and in Star Trek Bridge Commander was the USS Cold Harbor.

I use this name as it mildy discribes my tactical personality.  Sometimes to prove a point and to show your commitment to winning a War, you have to fight a battle even if you know its unwinable.  To show the dedication to beat your enemy no matter where he hides.

The American Civil War Battle of Cold Harbor was a perfect example, even though the 'Brass' and the Soliders new it was suicide to attack the entrentched Reb's, they did it any, as almost an intimidation tactic.  No matter where they went, how much they dug in, or what ground they chose, they would be attacked.

Heh, sorry for the history lesson and the excessive history.  Just like to explain some of the neat aspects.   ;)
