I think that combat should definately be FPS, or at least as close to it as possible. I want to be able to have a crewmate keep them pinned down in a corridor while I run around to flank them and vaporize them and all that good stuff. having a RPG-style combat system will quickly make it boring and redundant. I want to be able to transport onto an enemy ship and have them be totally clueless as i sneak up behind their crew and take them out one by one. I just think it's neccesary.

I do think this has been a misunderstanding. I dont think they will be doing any sort of skill-bar.
Standard blast 2-7 dmg
critical shot 4-10 dmg
nothing like that. If that happens. I could see ST:O dieing very quickly.
What they were doing was a First person view. with Free fire. Just like Elite Force pretty much. But they wanted to add a little more to the game for those people who like to see their character. So they have it so you can slid essentially the scroll wheel on the mouse will adjust the distance from 3rd person to 1st person and adjust the distance. So it will be like Grand theft auto. or elite force its your choice.
To clear up all these problems we need a developer to answer. Will it be skill based with the annoying.

or free fire with different fire modes.

Well I would seriously reconsider buying the game if it had skill bars etc but the scrolling to different views sounds quite cool actually.

i wouldnt even reconsider. I would definately with 0% chance buy the game even if there was no monthly fee. let alone pay a monthly fee for a game that has a crappy combat system like i have stated. If your interested in the camera. Face of Mankind, an open beta, right now has this already. although they are in heavy patching right now. Alot of bugs right now. It really is a neat feature. There are people who play who swear by maximum distance in 3rd person. some swear to 1st person. but no matter what decision u pick. its there. |

god no, i just quit face of mankind, that community drives you nuts after a while, if you want to have politics in a game which you can really immerse yourself in, FOM is perfect for you, i however think its mostly bull####...but then again i never got past rank three so bah, munky your that fdc of the same name arent ya?

well the main game element in this game wont be FPS, that would usually be awayteam/boarding party who would rely on that, the rest of the game will mostly focus on shipvsship combat, so if she cant fire a damn phaser, tell her to be a med

I think you're missing the point, a player shouldn't be excluded from playing a portion of a game that they may want to play because they have bad eye-hand coordination. This is a little on the extreme side, but this is like saying you shouldn't get loot in a traditional MMPRPG if you can't ninja loot it.

well ya.... but i was just saying the camera system has been done already and you can check it in face of mankind. Ive been rank 4. but with this new patch im a trader proffession so i really dont care about rank so i havent asked to be promoted. My names: You Munky Jason Edwards As for LAR1853 If your mom cant fight in a free fire type. She is missing largely out on ALOT of games. So while she WILL be missing out on alot of fun in ST:O. There will be things that can be done. Ship vs Ship combat will very much be a RPG skill based combat. Well it's got to be.
