If you have not seen it yet, here it is. The Winner of the draw the USS Titan contest. I wonder if we will see this ship in STO.

Given they were judging part of the score on originality, I am not impressed that one won. Too similar to established designs.

Not really impressed either, it's just an updated intrepid, with a nebula pod attached?

It could been a great deal better than that.  :eyesroll:
That is the win, I hate to see the losers.

There are a lot of people on www.scifi-meshes.com with really superb designs, who didn't get them in on time.  Not to say Sean Tourangeau's design was bad, but I suspect he wouldn't have won if the deadline had been extended a week or so.

I don't think its a bad design at all, leave the poor Colorado Springer alone.

It looks a lot like the Battleship from Star Trek Starfleet Command from its forward and aft view.

I won't say that I hate the design, but I am disappointed.  Before I express my frustration with the ship let me say that I fooled around designing a ship and it is hard to stay with in the boundries of established Federation design.  There are only so many combinatons of saucer sections, warp naccels, etc.  So the designer did a good job of intergrading all those components into a new ship and he shouldn't be blamed for that.  Good Job.
My problem is that you can make a ship that looks different, but still has a aura of a Federation ship.  To I imagined the ship looking very sleek and fast looking.  I don't like all that crap sticking off of it.  I'll give you an example, the Delta Flyer.  It's clearly a Federation ship, but its very stream lined, no nacels sticking out of it.  Everything flows.
This contest was played to close to the vest.  There's a box that Star Trek ship design is in right now and someone has to start thinking out side of it.

Not a very warm welcome for the new ship design. Perhaps the deadline should have been extended.

My opinion is that it looks very.....normal. The only thing that stands out is the bridge (if thats what it is) sticking out the top. But it does follow the lines of most of the ships readily availiable, so it doesnt stand out like a pink coat on a black coat rack.

Quite frankly I don't like the thing sticking out the top. What is it?

It reminds me very much of the dorsal appendage attached to the Miranda class.

I suspect it's new hardware for establishing more advanced sensor telemetry.

If memory presents me correctly, on the Miranda, such an appendage was two photon torpedo launchers.

So, that appendage could very well be two quantum torpedo launchers.

Guessing from the contest design notes I think it's supposed to be a sensor pod rather than a weapons pod.

The design does work, IMO.  It's not the one I would have picked, but I can see why it won.

I'd guess it's a sensor pod too, since the luna class is supposedly an exploratory/scientific ship?
It's the not the bridge, since that's located at the little dome in the middle of the saucer section.
Still looks too much like the intrepid to me.

Is this official canon now?  I haven't seen anything regarding this.

It's not technically official canon unless it's on screen or in a Star Trek non-fiction/reference book.

There are a select number of books that will probably fit into the general view of canon. The "A Time To" series and the new "Titan" series are probably semi-canon. However, it's hard to say anything is canon until it is confirmed, like I said, on screen or in a non-fiction/reference book.
