I am a producer for a photographer who is publishing a book this fall called "Geeks and Fake Hipsters." The book is a documentary style look at the difference in these two creatures, and will hang in several galleries upon completion. It is a black and white fine art portrait book.
I am looking for any Trekkie "Geeks" who would like to be a part of this project. I pay each person we photograph $100 and we'll be shooting in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. I'm especially looking for older "Geeks," but I want all ages, sexes, races.
If you are interested in being a part of this project, please check out my posting on Craigslist here:
Please note: I don't want to offend anyone by calling them "Geeks." We are not doing a stereotypical treatment of "Geeks" with this book, but rather, we're trying to explore the different elements of what it really means to be a "Geek." I'm very interested in hearing from any of you who would like to be in the book. I'm looking for about 100 people for each city we shoot in, so come one, come all.
You can email me at any time with questions about the project. Our website is also listed below if you are curious about my photographer - his last project is going to be published this fall. It was a series of portraits of people over 100 years old.
