Will there be race specific bonuses to class played?  For example, a bonus to engineering skills if you play vulcan?

Should there be?

Yes I believe so. Here's a good page to look at.

I saw that, but its not specific if bonuses will accompany racial choice for a chosen profession class - or am i just missing the boat?

I'm pretty sure the aggressive, versitile, analytical system is aimed at giving bonuses for certain professions by certain species.

Go look at the FAQ again. There is a good reason why there are no specifics on anything, PE is still in early pre-production. They can't share details that they haven't even thought through yet.

PE and Viacom aren't even certian what the game is going to be like at this point.

I heard talk about some races being better in specific professtions, although I'm not sure if that idea will follow through. I'd hate to have to be Vulcan if I wanted to be a decent Science officer.

I forget where but I also saw a PE Admin post in response to someone complaining about the Tellarite race. It was something along the lines of "can you suggest another tough, strong Federation race?". That suggests to me that phsyical bonuses are being considered.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seing racial bonuses as long as there was a way to balance them all out. I can see Vulcans being over powered with extra strength, stamina, heat resistance, and telepathic abilities compared to a basic human. There's also the question of whether there are significant physical differences between Humans, Bajorans, and Trill. Meh, we'll have to wait a while to see what PE's thoughts are on this.

I just discovered something, Caitian from the animated series are canon!
http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Caitian

good news for ppl who like the furry cat people, they appear visibly in one of the films! :)

Ok, on topic, they have mentioned some skills being made available with some race choices, so  maybe that is the difference? the racial knowledges?

Yea, why the Tellarites? There's only ever been like 3 Tellarite characters that I remember. I wish they would use a more well-known race, which I have no idea what that would be...

They are an aggressive Federation race that are not the Klingons.

They are also fresh, while still being a canon species.  Sounds like a great idea to me.

well, how are telarites aggressive? most places list them as being great politicians. If i get it correct it is an cultural "aggresiveness" who make them enjoy arguing and discussing, not fight.
