Um... Jerry Goldsmith would have been fantastic:

The Next Generation, TMP, Voyager, Nemesis, Insurrection, First Contact, The Final Frontier, and Air Force One!

Too bad he is dead.

As you suggest I would let users play thier files...any files...in thier cabin. But no other party entering the room or hanging out in their room would be able to see or hear anything that resides on your end.

However if one would like to share an experience with another crewmember, guest, etc....then they be allowed to use common music files provided with STO.

The past teaches us that the provided files are never enough and one would like to upload thier music to share with others for cabin experiences. This will not do IMO.

Nothing should ever be uploaded to STO.

Therfore you must seek other options.
- Commercial content providers that would be officially approved by the developers to distribute
- Use in game credits to purchase additional content.
- Use real world currency to purchase further content.

IMO, I don't really want ambient music... just the sounds and hum of the engines and maybe some ambient music when something happens like, something is discovered or we go into battle, u know, things like that. I think they should maybe add tracks that you can listen to in your quarters, a variety from everything from jazz to rock. Then if people wanted to add their own MP3's into game, they could have a file structure thing going on...

For Example... I want to listen to my... Mp3 albums, I'd stick them into the UserMp3/Rock or /Classical for e.g. so if I select something I want to listen to from my MP3 collection, lets say, the "rock" section, I would hear the music but the others would hear generic rock music that came with the game?

I imagine that people will spend alot of time onboard a starship living the life of an officer, the last thing you want to hear is repetitive ambient music which gets really annoying after a few hours... (unless its good ambient music that is...)

How about some Klingon Opera?
It sounds good.

Like the music hey had playing in the background in Klingon Academy. When you are on the splash screen. Just before you start the game.

Have that playing in battles, and dark nebulas.

I think you should be able to call up from available tracks on the computer when in your own quarters. You can load your own music, or there can be some star trek stuff already in there, and you can use voice (I guess text in this case) commands to play whatever track you want.

I have to hear some of these songs you are talking about.  Klingon Opera?  And the other ones.  Where would I get some of these songs.  I only know of the opening themes for the series. :p

I'd like to hear a fully orchestrated original Star Trek score specifically composed for STO. Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven) would make an excellent choice.

Great call there, I fully agree. They've got almost two years to get this going, so that's plenty of time for Hans to whip something up.  :)
