Star Trek Online Universe has opened a community wiki dedicated to Star Trek Online! A wiki is a web based program designed to allow anyone to edit its content. When an enthusiastic community gets involved with a wiki great things happen, such as Memory-Alpha! It is our hope that the fantastic community that is forming in anticipation of the Star Trek MMOG will join in and make this a truly fantastic resource for everyone interested in the game! You can reach the wiki using either of the following URLS: http://www.stowiki.com You can see that Ionparticle, Jaz and others from Star Trek Online Universe and Star Trek Games have been busy setting up the infrastructure of the wiki and creating the base content. Now we encourage everyone to become involved with adding to, enhancing, and editing this Star Trek Online community resource! As with most wiki's, registration is not required to begin editing, however we have locked down the index page due to spam bots that scour the internet looking for open wiki's in which to replace the index page with their spam messages and links. Just use the wiki's talk feature or the link to the wiki discussion board at Star Trek Online Universe forum to post index page change requests. We'd love to see our non-English community counter-parts work to translate the STO wiki into their native language, just let us know! Thanks to everyone who takes time to contribute, thanks to Jaz and Ionparticle for doing such a fantastic job of getting the base content setup, and to daNo for creating the theme. I can't begin to tell you how excited I am about this new community resource! Stography, the name we've given the wiki modeled after the term 'Stellar Cartography', begins its five year mission today!

We'll here is Wikipedia's definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WikiWiki is just the term used to identify a type of application, like 'Word Processor' would be used to identify Microsoft Word. In this case the 'wiki' program is called WikiMedia, but there are many types of wiki software available. Generally people just refer to the applications using the general term 'Wiki'. In a nutshell its much like a website where everyone has access to edit the pages. Everyone pitches in adding content, refining existing content, and so on. When everyone works together a lot can be accomplished in a short amount of time. Check out Wikepedia.org. It a online dictionary totally created by everyone making contributions to it in their own respective fields of interest. With Stography everyone can pitch in and add information and items of interest, catalog findings, list related information. It's also completely flexible in how you want to organize the information you put in it. So we can create different views of the same information but such that it's geared toward different people. It's has unlimited potential!

WikiTip: The color of the link can tell you if there is content behind the link or not. Another way is to look at the status bar on your browser and if you see the word 'edit' in the url.
Wiki's grow through community contribution! So if you see a link to a empty page, take the time to add to it!
