Only Game Commander 2 and Game Voice will work with the voice recognition.

Its my second favourite ST Game, my favs Armada II. I havent got hold of Starfleet Command III yet and i probably wont get Elite force as i dislike First Person games like that.

Anyway, i love the fact that i can cut up ships (galaxy class vessels never look the same after ive been finished with them, but it only works if they're an ally as i cant be bothered to disable wepons and engines and shields if its an enemy ship before i get around to dissecting it :) ).

I remember hearing that theres a voice recognition bit on BC, is this true and if so, how do i get it?

There is however you need a voice recognition program in your computer and of course a microphone I thought about this myself as it would be cool to run the ship that way I already do pretend sometimes that I am doing thast even though I use the mouse and click on the appropriate option

Terrific game, must complain on the bad selection of Federation ships
where is the Defiant and Intrepid classes?
Who cares about the Ambassador and Nebula (a.k.a. Galaxy exact duplicate) class...lol

Agreed, and the poor selectoin of bridges. If your going to battle in a warbird or a bird of prey, you want one of their bridges, not the bog standard galax/soveriegn bridges
(but at least they cn blow themselves to bits as well)

Bridge Commander, no doubt.
I've got a lot of mileage out of that game. Between ships, features & mods being added daily http://bridgecommander.filefront.com
It's one of the only few "older" games still installed that provides trek entertainment down to the last detail, um, except non-UFP bridges. I can live with that, besides, making those bridges isn't excactly easy. I've tried.

When i read the review of this game prior to buying it, it made it sound like you could do all sorts of missions and beam down on away missions etc.

After playing the missions though i found you were quite limited in what you actually had control over. The main bulk of the game was rapid combat, something i found very dissapointing.

Its quite a shallow game and i feel it could have been so much more as it did have potential.

You have to be kidding, it was hands down one of the best games to ever come out with the trek name on it.  It was more like being in a 2part episode than anything else.  Great plot, great action and gameplay, it was anything but shallow.

It was mediocre at best..

It was supposed to be this immersive game where you could do all these various missions, using the transporters & carrying out other stuff.

What it turned out to be apart from a couple of missions, was just shooting endless ships..Some of the later missions required an act of god so you could actually do them without resorting to cheats..

Not my type of game at all.

One of the best Trek games ever. Enhanced with new mode for it, which gives you the wide variety of choices between various ships, makes it a classic game.

Ok, don't know what you were reading.  But all the previews and reviews I read about it said that you took command of a starship, and issued the orders as such.  And thats what you did.  Not once did I hear anything along the lines of what your talking about.

You mean issue orders when youre allowed to..not when you want to..

The game was so restrictive..it should have come with its own straightjacket.

but there are patches now with more ships and systems to visit, plus you dont always have to use bridge view you can control the ship manually and dont have to issue orders to the crew
