Well, my moms friend who likes Star Trek got the game for his birthday and because he doesnt know anything about the computer he gave it to me. Sadly, ive never been able to play it because DOS wouldn't work on my 98, now I have XP and it obviously still doesn't work... I dont even know if XP has DOS. Is there anyway I can play it or am I doomed?

You need to read the readme file. You need to use a lot of old DOS commands to get the game installed and running. Everything you need should be in the readme but if you get stuck with anything then post here.

To install the game and play do the following.

My main hard drive is C:\ so I type:

mount C C:\

Change the drive to C:\ by typing:

c:

Mount your CD Drive (mine is E) by typing:

mount d e:\ -t cdrom

Change the drive to D:\ by typing:

d:

Then type:

install

and install the game to a directory. Once it is installed change the game back to C:\ by typing:

c:

and then type:

startrek

The next time you run DOSBOX you will need to mount the C:\ drive again and then just go to the folder and type STARTREK again to run it.

That worked pretty well and I installed it. Then I got stuck where I had to type startrek. It says illegal command,"startrek".

That is strange then. Were you in the C:\TREKCD directory when you typed it? Are you running XP or XP Pro?

Once it is installed you need to run DOSBOX to play it as mentioned above. If you follows those commands it should work.

It gives me a thing where I need to press a key to continue and thats where it stops. I need to open a file in the folder. I cant just run the program off the folder itself
