Ok this is a hot topic on the forums, so I would like to gage everyones vote on the matter.

Seems like almost everyone wants a 2nd faction at the start, but PE doesn't have the man power, or money to get it done. So they say.

So voice your thoughts here on the topic, maybe things will change down the road.

Well for what ever reason, it seems that this community is fairly evenly split about multiple factions at launch. So the original post has the look of biased propaganda. Its too bad that more people don't avoid making broad sweeping assertions that can't be substantiated.

Be nice for a mod to make this a sticky, and let the poll run its course for a few months. :hint, hint:

Well the reason is they want to get there view out there and make people think it is a large group that watns something.  They did it with eq2 and sw:g because they vocied there mind alot more then people that were happy so it looked as if people were not happy with something.  If u have say 500 people and 100 of them are screaming every day that something sucks or is bad they dont like it, but 300 of those people are happy and have no reason to go to the boards and hell that there not happy all u get is that 100 people that are getting everyone else up in a roar.  The devs see that group not the group that is happy and not making noise.

*Stares blankly at Ellessar* Your inability to accurately judge a situation grows more and more obvious with every post nearly. How can you say SWG isn't a failure when 80%+ of the community now opposes it steadfastly?

It was successful, it now is a failure. Living in the past on things like this doesn't help anyone, especially you.

Funny I played SWG since beta for about a year. Left for almost a year and went back to it a couple months ago. Still see lots of people playing it. Failure, I think not.

It's a MMORPG you idgit, if you don't see "lots of people" then your're experiencing network issues or the servers would be down lmao. The only way you'd be able to get into SWG is if there was the illusion of lots of people still playing. The reality is that some servers are danmed near abandoned now.

Idgit? You called me an Idgit? What the heck is an Idgit? lol
I beta tested and played lots of MMOs sir, so do not go preaching to me about them! Sure population is lower since release, the game is two years old now. That considered a failure in your eyes? Not mine!

idjit-noun, some body who is stupid.example: the person who sayed swg is a bad game. its a good game! :grr: :grr: :grr:

I think if they had the time and everything else they needed they would launch more factions at the opening.  There is no reasion they would not if they could.

While I would prefer atleast 2 factions for RP and interaction, I will fully support PE reasons as to not have more then 1 at launch.

Well if they add races like Borg, Romulan, and Klingon there's three factions right there that hate one another.

Do not get me started on why Borg should not be a playable faction. Just let me say that doing so would end up killing their essence. It would be mutilating canon.

The community will prefer a quality federation-only game to a sub-par multiple faction game.

Perpetual has limited resources, time, and technology.  We can't expect the game we would want to play in an ideal world, but rather we should expect a game that we want to play at least until expansions.

Well from the poll I would say less than half the community would concur with those sentiments.  I certainly do not agree.  As do many others not agree.

I would love to see additional player races as much as the next guy.  I voted Feds only *at launch*, because there are some other things that I think are more important on which the developers should spend their limited time and money.

I am a little biased because I fell in love with Star Trek because of Starfleet and the Federation. Others may be more attached to other races.

I would love to see additional races in an expansion, but 24 people saying they would prefer to have factions at launch does not really indicate what an entire demographic will think.

Heck, all of us here must be pretty hardcore to be posting so far in advance of the release.  That alone will skew the results of the poll.
